πβ¨ AUTHOR VISIT FUN! β¨π
PrepβYear 2 students were treated to a wonderfully whimsical visit from author Bethany Loveridge, creator of Genie Snail! ππ«
With clever rhymes, laugh-out-loud moments, and plenty of magical mayhem, students discovered what happens when an ordinary garden snail transforms into the finicky Genie Snail - a wish-granting character who only grants wishes that rhyme with "snail"!
The engaging workshop had students giggling, imagining, and enjoying every slippery surprise. A big thank you to Bethany for sharing her creativity and inspiring our young readers and writers.

π CELEBRATING AUSTRALIAN STORIES & CREATIVITY! π¨
What a fantastic day for our Years 2 - 4 students as we welcomed Australian author and illustrator Peter Carnavas to our school!
Students enjoyed hearing a chapter from his new book Kid, picked up some brilliant illustration tips during a live drawing workshop, and had the opportunity to have their copies of Kid personally signed. The excitement reached a new level when one clever student correctly answered all five tricky quiz questions and won the special Kid postcard that Peter drew and painted during the session!
A wonderful celebration of storytelling, illustration, imagination, and creativity - with plenty of fun along the way.

MOVING, LEARNING, GROWING! πββοΈπ§ β¨
At Good News, our PrepβYear 2 students take part in our Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) - a fun, active and engaging program designed to build the foundational skills needed for success both in and beyond the classroom.
PMP is about so much more than movement! Through purposeful, play-based activities, students are strengthening the important brain-body connections that support learning every day.
You might see students balancing on prickly balls while writing letters of the alphabet in the air - building core strength, balance, coordination and letter formation skills at the same time. Or students moving bean bags from one side of their body to the other, strengthening coordination and crossing the midline - an important skill that supports reading, writing and overall motor development.
Why does this matter? These early movement experiences help develop:
β¨ Concentration, memory and attention
β¨ Core strength and posture for learning
β¨ Coordination and handwriting skills
β¨ Confidence, resilience and independence
β¨ Foundational skills that transfer into literacy, numeracy and classroom success
At Good News, we love seeing our youngest learners move, explore and grow! π
