🧺 Laundry Bag 2.0! 🧵✨

The first version worked really well, but I wasn’t completely happy with it. I didn’t love seeing the wrong side of the fabric, and I wanted to add a pocket for sock holders and pegs.

So… version 2.0! 😄

I reused the same IKEA laundry bag as the lining, but this time I enclosed the webbing loops neatly between the layers and created an opening between the layers for a handy pocket. 🧦📌

I also added boxed corners for a better shape. To stop the layers separating, I joined the seam allowances at the boxed corners with a few stitches.

Now everything has its own little “home” — no more shuffling through the laundry stuff to find what I need! 🙌♻️

Golden hour is my favourite time of day. I’m inspired by those beautiful colours and the way the light makes everything glow. ✨

For this workshop, I’ve taken that inspiration and turned it into fabric art. Think of it a little like stained glass — when the light shines through, the colours pop and you can see the beautiful texture and grain of the fabric. 🌈🧵

🧵✨ Solving a problem with sewing!

Caravan doors are quite low, and my tall hubby has bumped his head more than once! 😅 So I decided it was time to make a little “head bumper” for the top of the door.
I learnt a new-to-me technique — a puff/bubble quilt — and used up some of my fabric sample scraps. ♻️ I even repurposed the stuffing from a travel pillow that I hardly ever use.

Then came the puzzle: how to hang it without damaging the caravan? 🤔 I figured it out with Command strips, hooks and a strap on the back of the mini quilt.

Now it hangs above the door like a little piece of textile art… with a secret mission: protect hubby’s head! 😂🩷

Practical, colourful, handmade and made entirely from things I already had. I love when sewing solves a problem! ✂️🧵

🧵✨ I was putting away my iron when I noticed the bag it came with was starting to fall apart. It was also slightly too small, and being made from polyester, it was never really my favourite. 😅
So instead of repairing it, I made new one!

I used some fabric scraps and seam-ripped a couple of old canvas bags to reuse the fabric 🪡✂️

The new bag is a simple drawstring pouch with lining, with an extra layer of protection. This is especially handy when I’m travelling or teaching and my iron is still a little warm 🔥🧳

Nothing fancy — just a practical little sewing project made from materials I already had 💚

🧵 Scrap busting & trying something new! 🪡

This fabric was donated to me as a scrap, so I decided to give it a new life as a simple tote bag. ♻️✨

I also used this project to try a different type of boxed corner – and I have to say, I really like it! 😍 It’s simple, gives the bag a nice shape, and the best part? No fabric cutting needed! 🙌

I love projects like this – using what I already have, experimenting with new techniques and turning leftover fabric into something useful. 🪡💚

This little orange tote will be donated, either together with a sewing order or alongside other donated items, so hopefully it will get plenty of use. 🛍️🧡🌿

I hand-mended two seams:

🧥 Jacket side seam – repaired using a ladder stitch.
🎩 Hat seam/binding – secured with a “doubled” running stitch.

For both repairs, I carefully followed the existing puncture marks, helping the stitching blend in with the original construction while keeping the repair neat and secure.
Slow stitching gives us the chance to look after what we already own, save money, reduce waste and keep favourite pieces in use for longer. 🌿♻️

Mend it. Repair it. Keep using it. ❤️

I gave three old pairs of jeans a completely new life! ♻️🧵

I seam-ripped the jeans and used one pair as the base, adjusting the waistband to get a better fit. Then I added pieces from the other two pairs, keeping the original shapes and iconic jean pockets visible.
I deliberately left the different shades of denim, pocket details and yellow-orange stitching on display 💙🧡

A little bit crazy? Maybe! 😂 But I absolutely LOVE it! ❤️

🧵 **Quick stash buster! ♻️**

I used some offcuts from other projects — webbing, elastic and Velcro — to make an adjustable strap for my storage box.

I got the idea from an elastic and Velcro strap I had for my yoga mat. Instead of letting that idea go to waste, I adapted it for my sewing needs!

Now I use the strap to keep my thread box securely closed, whether it’s sitting in storage or travelling with me to clients and workshops. 🧳🧵

I love finding new uses for things I already have, especially when it means turning leftover materials into something practical. 💚

A quick, useful project and a few less scraps in the stash — win-win! ✨
