Meet Nishav, our superstar !!

When Nishav first joined Grasshopper Soccer, making friends and joining in confidently wasn’t always easy. He needed a little extra support, encouragement and time to find his feet.

Fast forward to today… and his dad couldn’t be prouder. 🥹

Nishav and his family have been part of our Grasshopper Soccer family for over a year, and his dad has been incredibly committed to his journey — making sure Nishav shows up every week and rarely misses a session.

And the change has been amazing.

Nishav has grown in confidence, developed his football skills and, most importantly, started believing in himself.

One of our favorite changes?

He’s no longer afraid to jump in front of the ball and give it his best!

He gets involved.
He keeps trying.
He takes on challenges.
And every week, we see more confidence shining through.

For his dad, watching this growth has been incredibly special. And for us, this is exactly why we do what we do.

Because sometimes, the biggest win isn’t scoring a goal.

It’s watching a child who once held back become brave enough to get involved, have a go and believe in themselves.

A huge shoutout to Nishav for his incredible progress — and to his dad for being there every week, supporting him and giving him the opportunity to grow. 👏

🎥 EDUCATION SERIES – VIDEO 4 IS HERE! ⚽

This week, we’re introducing Coach Ricky, who is showing us how to perform a Full Volley! 💥⚽

Ricky currently plays for Manningham United FC in the Under 23s, bringing his experience and knowledge to our Education Series.

A full volley is a fantastic skill for helping young players develop:

⚽ Timing & coordination – learning when to strike the ball

Ball tracking – judging the ball as it comes through the air

Confidence – becoming comfortable striking a moving ball

Technique – improving body position and clean contact

Decision-making – learning when and where to strike

And that’s exactly why we created our Education Series.

We want to give your child more than just their weekly Grasshopper session.

Each video gives them a skill they can watch, understand, practise at home and gradually build confidence in.

Even 5–10 minutes of extra practice can help turn a new skill into something they feel confident using on the field.

Hi everyone! Just a reminder that from *Friday 28th August to Sunday 30th August, Grasshopper Soccer Northern Melbourne will be celebrating **Book Week* during all of our training sessions!

We’d love for all of our Grasshoppers to come along *dressed as their favourite book character* and join us for a fun Book Week-themed session!

What you need to know:

Dress up : Come dressed as your favorite book character!
Normal session - Kids will still take part in their regular Grasshopper Soccer session.

Gold coin donation - Please bring a gold coin donation on arrival.
Charity - All donations will go towards *charity* and help us make a positive difference in our community.

This is a great opportunity for the kids to have some fun, show off their creativity,, learn about kindness, sharing and commiunity spirit and enjoy soccer while supporting a great cause! 🎉

We’re really looking forward to seeing all the amazing costumes across the weekend, so start thinking about your favorite book character and get involved!

We can’t wait to see everyone there!

This week, meet Coach Ronan

Ronan has been playing football for 10 years, including with West Preston, and has even had the opportunity to travel to Spain and play in a mini tournament involving Racing Madrid

In this video, Ronan is teaching the Reverse Elastico — a skill that challenges players to improve their close ball control, change of direction and confidence when taking on an opponent.

But this Education Series is about more than learning a trick.

It’s about giving your child small skills they can practise at home, helping them build confidence, coordination and creativity with the ball.

Take a few minutes with your child, watch the video together and give the skill a go.

Practice → Progress → Confidence. 💚⚽

And remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect. The goal is to keep trying, keep learning and have fun along the way!
