We had a surprise visit from our local Superman - Christopher Reeve (yes that's his real name) at pick up this afternoon.
Thanks for brightening our Friday afternoon Chris.
We were super busy in PUPS this morning.
We had lots of fun playing with toys, reading books, and singing with our friends.
You won’t believe how good the PUPS are at packing up when Mrs Spohr plays the pack up song.
Mrs Spohr read us Speedy Sloth by Rebecca Young & Heath McKenzie while we had fruit break.
Do you know that sloths are very, very, very slow, have large claws and live in trees?
We played on the equipment and discovered we are good at climbing!
Do you like the Sloths we made to take home? We think they are really cute.
Congratulations to the students who received recognition for their learning, attendance and behaviour efforts, at this week’s assembly. Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our weekly celebration of learning at MPS!
Our Jail House rockers at our disco tonight!
Our P and C disco was very successful tonight. Having the 2 timeslots worked very well and ensured all the students attending had plenty of room to dance and enjoy their friends' company. Thank you to our P and C members, our parent volunteers, our teachers and Chris who, once again, was a great DJ.

MPS hosted the 3rd round of netball this afternoon against Woodberry Public School
Both teams played extremely well in the mid court however our players in defence and attack were too strong for Woodberry giving us another victory.
Our cheer squad were once again very vocal and supportive towards both teams which is lovely to see.
Congratulations MPS you’ve made it to round 4!! A history making win!
Unfortunately, due to the weather, Year 1 were not able to attend Bush Kindy. We put our own spin on Bush Kindy and had a picnic inside. When the rain cleared up we were able to walk around to the nets and discover all types of natural flora and fauna in our own playground!
Information for Year 6 parents whose child is attending MGHS in 2024.
Parent volunteers are needed for the school disco to assist with handing our water and chips, supervision of toilet area, taking permission slips and general supervision.
If you have a WWCC please fill in the volunteer slip at the bottom of the disco note (sent home last week) and return to the school office.
Thank you MPS P&C
WE’RE TAKING IT IN OUR STRIDE ON FRIDAY 19 MAY 2023
Well it’s that time of year again when our school seriously starts talking about walking!
Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more
walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. And although walking all the way to school isn’t
realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily
routine.
You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by:
• Walking with them the whole way to school
• If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop
• If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way.
Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like
obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes. It also gives you a great
opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic.
Remember, Active Kids are Healthy Kids so get planning your own Walk Safely to School Day journey for
Friday 19 MAY 2023!

It’s been a very busy day at MPS.
32 students represented MPS at the Zone Cross Country at Tocal today.
All students are to be commended on their commitment to running and their outstanding behaviour. Thank you to all the parents who assisted with transport to ensure everyone was able to attend the event.
A big CONGRATULATIONS to Trey who came 4th in the junior boys. Trey will now represent MPS at Regional Cross Country.
We would also like to thank Mrs Gamble for taking all the photos.
Our second week of PUPS went very smoothly. Everyone settled quickly and played quietly on the floor with cars, dinosaurs, playdough, felt boards. Some PUPS even read books to each other. Mrs Spohr sang the name song and she read “Thanks Mum” by Matt Cosgrove while we had fruit break. We had a quick game of STOP, LOOK & LISTEN, and practiced walking back into the library in one long snakey line.
Mrs Spohr showed us how to make a special card for our mum’s, nans, or auntie’s. We were very good at scrunching and pasting.
We had a busy day and were happy to see our mum's and nan's when it was time to go home.
A cool and foggy morning didn't stop the special ladies in our lives from dropping in for breakfast to celebrate Mother's Day. Congratulations to the P&C raffle winners, enjoy your prizes! We wish all the wonderful women in our lives a lovely weekend with loved ones.
One of our structured play activities today was Mothers Day colouring in. The students really enjoyed making something to take home for their mums, nans and aunty.
Timmy & the Breakfast Band Musica Viva visited Metford Public School today and put on a wonderful, funny and exciting performance of 'Timmy and the Breakfast Band'. The students were a wonderful audience and thoroughly enjoyed

On Tuesday 9th May, the Boys and Girls Touch Football teams travelled to Maitland Park to compete in Round 1 of the PSSA Touch Knockout Competition against Ashtonfield Public School. Both teams played some very skilful touch football, with some flair shown in attack and dedication and teamwork in defence. Although both teams didn’t come away with a win, they displayed great sportsmanship on the day. A big thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to help transport some students to and from Maitland Park. Thank you also to the family members who came to support and watch their children participate.
