🐴 HORSE WELFARE STARTS WITH NOTICING

Our horses can’t tell us in words when something is wrong — but they are constantly communicating through their behaviour, movement and body language.

Take a moment before you ride to really look at your horse.

👀 Are they moving comfortably?
🥕 Are they eating and drinking normally?
🦵 Is there any heat, swelling or tenderness?
😌 Are they behaving like their usual self?
🐎 Is their tack comfortable and correctly fitted?
🌡️ Are the weather and conditions suitable for the work you are asking them to do?
Sometimes the best horsemanship decision is to change the plan, reduce the workload or not ride at all.

Good horse welfare isn’t just what happens when something goes wrong — it’s the small checks and decisions we make every single day.

💙 Their welfare always comes first.

🐴 BARELLAN SHOW WOWZA! 🤩🎉

What a fantastic day out for our riders and instructors at the Barellan Show! 🏆🐎

🌟 Ella, Mikayla, Rosie & Zarah hit up the jumping ring, with some of our riders also going on to compete in the open classes. Our riders done an amazing job!

🤠 Instructors Megan & Michael had a crack at team sorting. While they didn’t manage to place, they had an absolute ball and enjoyed a great day out! 🙌

It was also wonderful to see our riders to catch up with their friends from Zone 21 & YAHS! 💛🖤

We also received some fantastic feedback about our riders today from the judges, which we love to hear!

🏆 2026 PONY CLUB NSW STATE AWARD NOMINATIONS CLOSE SOON! 🏆

There is just one month left to nominate for the 2026 Pony Club NSW State Awards, with nominations closing 30th September 2026.

Our State Awards are about recognising the people and Clubs who contribute so much to Pony Club through volunteering, supporting others, showing leadership, helping their Club grow and creating a positive Pony Club community. 💙🐴

And this year, we also have some fantastic prize packs on offer, including magazine subscriptions, merchandise, vouchers, tack and sponsor products, plus an incredible personalised jump set for our Club of the Year! 🎁🐴

So, what are the awards?

🌟 Junior Service Award
Recognises junior members aged 13 and under 17 who have provided practical assistance and outstanding service to their Club. This award focuses on contribution, sportsmanship, volunteering and involvement — riding and competition ability are not major considerations.

🌟 Keith Lowe Associate Award
Recognises Associate members aged 19 and under 25 who have given practical assistance and outstanding service to their Club during their Associate years. The award was established to recognise the important contribution Associates make to the Pony Club movement.

🌟 Volunteer of the Year
Recognises volunteers whose hard work and commitment have significantly assisted in the running and development of their Club and/or Zone. Eligible nominees must have volunteered a minimum of 50 hours over a 12-month period.

🌟 Club of the Year
Recognises an outstanding Pony Club NSW affiliated Club that demonstrates strong management, member development, participation, innovation, community involvement and opportunities for its members.

🏇 And there’s a fantastic major prize for this one! The winning Club receives a personalised jump set including two wings, two poles and a dazzle board, along with a personalised trophy.

These awards are a wonderful opportunity to shine a spotlight on the members, volunteers and Clubs who may not always receive recognition for everything they do behind the scenes.

🐎 16 August Rally 🐎

Short rally today with few riders. Today our riders worked their ponies through some strengthening exercises.

A nice little rally with some one on one with our instructor.
