This is the online community for Merriwa Central School. General Information
We welcome questions and comments from everyone, and ask that you observe the "dinner party" rules of conversation:by all means have your opinion- it doesn't have to be the same as anyone elses, but no swearing, bullying or criticism of other individuals please. And as with a dinner party, if you are blatantly

advertising your own commercial business, we'll all get very bored, very quickly and have to show you the door. Guidelines for comments

A big thank you to the Merriwa Rotary Club for their generous donation to our Steer Program!

Their support has allowed us to upgrade some of our cattle showing equipment, including these fantastic new halters.

We are very grateful for Rotary’s support in helping provide these opportunities for our students.

Our Merriwa Central School Where there’s a Will student leaders had a fantastic day at AGL Bayswater alongside student leaders from other Upper Hunter schools.

The students took part in a panel discussion with the AGL leadership team, asking questions about their career journeys, leadership and the importance of wellbeing in the workplace. They also enjoyed a guided tour of the site before sharing lunch with the AGL team.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn, connect and gain valuable insights into leadership and future career pathways.

A big thank you to AGL Bayswater and Where there’s a Will team for an inspiring day.

Little Sprouts this Friday

The countdown is on! We can't wait to welcome everyone to our annual Community Reading Day – Little Sprouts this Friday 28th August.

This year's theme is "Symphony of Stories," and we are looking forward to seeing all of the amazing costumes. Remember to come dressed as your favourite book character or as an element from a favourite story that helps bring our Symphony of Stories to life. There will be prizes for our Best Dressed students!

Throughout the day, students will visit local businesses and community locations, sharing stories, participating in exciting activities, and celebrating the joy of reading with our community.

A few reminders for the day:

· Children of preschool age who are not enrolled in preschool on Fridays will follow the Seeds program for the day.

· Parents and carers are welcome to join the Seeds group on their adventure but are not able to accompany school classes on their travels.

· Parents and carers of school-aged children are warmly invited to join us for the Book Parade, enjoy morning tea and lunch with us, and attend the presentation of our awards to conclude the day.

· Recess and lunch will be provided for all children.

We can't wait to celebrate another wonderful Little Sprouts with our community and create a truly memorable Symphony of Stories together. See you on Friday!

🏉 Jersey Day – Wear Your Favourite Jersey! 🏉

On Friday 4 September, students and staff at Merriwa Central School will be proudly supporting Jersey Day, a national awareness campaign that encourages Australians to start conversations about the importance of organ and tissue donation. Jersey Day was inspired by the gift of life given by 13-year-old Nathan Gremmo, whose organ donation helped save six lives.

Students are encouraged to wear their favourite sporting jersey to school on the day to show their support. There is no cost to participate, the day is all about raising awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations with family and friends about organ and tissue donation.

We look forward to seeing our school community dressed in their favourite team colours as we come together to support this important cause.

🌭 Bronze BBQ Celebration! 🌭

Last Friday, we were excited to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students at our Bronze BBQ!
Students from both our Primary and Secondary campuses who have achieved their Bronze Merit Award were invited to attend this special celebration in recognition of their positive efforts and achievements at school.

Students, staff and parents enjoyed a sausage sandwich and popper together, followed by some fun games and the opportunity to spend time with friends and family.

It was wonderful to see our school community come together to recognise and celebrate the hard work of our students. Congratulations to all of our Bronze Award recipients! We are very proud of your achievement and encourage everyone to keep working towards their next Merit Award.
