Congratulations to Noah for commencing his school-based Locksmith Apprenticeship with market leaders SPL 🔑
We are very proud of Noah for his proactive approach in sourcing a work experience placement and then his follow through and outstanding work ethic that gained him his apprenticeship.
Thanks to Nicky and the team at SPL for their ongoing support of Noah, it is greatly appreciated.

Strings Teacher (Instrumental Music Tutor)
Independent Business Owners
St. Michael’s College is seeking a passionate and skilled Strings Teacher to deliver one-on-one or small groups instrumental music lessons to students on-site at the College. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant and growing Creative Arts program within a supportive secondary school environment.
About the Role
We are looking for expressions of interest, for experienced teachers who can:
• Deliver individual and small group tuition in string instruments (e.g. violin, viola, cello, double bass).
• Provide engaging, student-centred lessons tailored to varying ability levels (beginner to advanced).
• Support students’ musical development, performance preparation, and practice habits.
• Where possible, contribute to ensembles, performances, or broader music initiatives within the College.
Employment Arrangement
• Teachers will operate under a BCE Deed of Agreement – use of school facilities with the College (Please note – the college charges a hire fee for the daily room hire)
• This is an independent service provider position.
• The successful applicant will independently manage lesson scheduling, invoicing, and fee collection, with support from the Head of Creative Arts.
• One day per week with the potential for growth.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
• Demonstrated proficiency on at least one string instrument with relevant examinations and qualifications training.
• Experience teaching instrumental music to school-aged students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to work independently and manage a private teaching schedule within a school setting.
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and meet BCE compliancy documentation and training requirements.
Desirable:
• Formal qualifications in music performance, music education, or a related field.
• Experience delivering or contributing to an instrumental music program within a school.
• Experience preparing students for performances, examinations, or ensemble participation.
• Ability to teach multiple string instruments.
