Big Freeze fun continued today!

At recess, our Junior School students showed plenty of enthusiasm in a game of Musical Statues, with Ollie taking home the chocolates after outlasting the strong competition.

At lunchtime, Adhvik impressed everyone in the planking competition, holding an incredible 7 minutes and 45 seconds to defeat a field of students and teachers and claim the Westfield voucher.

Well done to our winners and to everyone who got involved and supported today's Big Freeze activities, we can't wait for the main event tomorrow - the Big Freeze Slide!!

Konnichiwa, Shoyokan!

Today we were delighted to welcome our Japanese sister school, Shoyokan, to MCC for the first of a two-day visit.

Despite the cold and wet weather, Shoyokan staff and more than 60 students enjoyed a tour of our College facilities, attended a special assembly with our Year 5–9 students and spent time in classrooms participating in interactive games and learning activities. It was wonderful to see students connecting, sharing experiences and building international friendships.

Brain Freeze Trivia challenge was a hit!

Watching our teachers get drenched in icy cold water was entertaining enough, but seeing it back in slow motion is even more satisfying.

Who knew getting the wrong answer could be so entertaining!

Today, students gathered to watch some of MCC's finest staff members put their knowledge to the test in our inaugural Brain Freeze Trivia Challenge as part of our Big Freeze week.

One by one, student sponsored teachers were eliminated and subjected to an icy drenching, much to the delight of the enthusiasic crowd. After a fierce battle of brains, only one competitor remained standing....

Congratulations to Mr Gavillucci, who was crowned the inaugural Big Freeze Brain Freeze Champion, winning a $50 Westfield voucher for his sponsor Jericho!

When generations come together, something truly special happens.

Today we welcomed residents from Levande Residential Retirement Village for the launch of our Intergenerational Program Pilot.

Students and residents alike had an absolute blast, sharing stories, laughter, and meaningful conversations while taking part in a range of engaging activities.

This exciting initiative was developed as a passion project by College Captain, Makayla, and reflects our commitment to student wellbeing, leadership development, and building strong community connections.

A special thank you to .spuntino_ for their generous supply of today's delicious sandwiches, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Creativity, problem-solving and design thinking have been on full display in Year 10 Product Design.

Students have worked through the entire design process to create colour-blocked hoodies tailored to the needs and preferences of their chosen customers. Along the way, they have applied critical and creative thinking skills, overcoming challenges and refining their ideas to bring their designs to life.

The final products are a testament to the hard work, resilience and innovation demonstrated throughout the project. Congratulations to our students on achieving some truly impressive results.

We proudly welcomed representatives from La Trobe University and the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust as part of the Momentum Extension Project this week.

This innovative partnership provides our staff with personalised, one-on-one coaching and professional learning focused on evidence-based explicit instruction practices. Through classroom observations, tailored coaching, and ongoing support, the program aims to strengthen teaching practice and improve outcomes for both staff and students.

During the visit, we discussed the positive impact of the program, observed learning in action, and explored opportunities to further strengthen this valuable collaboration throughout the two-year pilot and beyond.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside leading education professionals to support continuous improvement and excellence in teaching and learning at MCC.

What does it take for a law to be passed in Victoria?

Our Year 12 Legal Studies students stepped into the shoes of Members of Parliament as they visited Parliament House and participated in an immersive role-play experience.

Students debated and considered a real-life Bill on Voluntary Assisted Dying, progressing it through both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, gaining valuable insight into the law-making process and the role of Parliament in Victoria.

Students enjoyed a guided tour of the historic Parliament House, also learning more about Victoria's political history and democratic system.
