Gala Sports Day Update – It's Game On!

Good news everyone — Gala Sports Day is going ahead as planned!

While the forecast is looking a little cooler than usual, with the possibility of some scattered light showers throughout the day, we're ready to embrace whatever Mother Nature throws our way.

To help students stay comfortable, please ensure they come prepared with:
✅ School jumper/jacket
✅ A light raincoat (if available)
✅ Spare socks
✅ Plenty of food and water for the day

(Otherwise separate sports requires extra attire and equipment, which students were informed at their sport meeting last week.)

For those wanting a special treat, **tuckshops will be open at both Coplicks and Pizzey Park**, so students may like to bring along some spare change to purchase lunch, snacks, or a well-earned post-game treat.

Most importantly, arrive at school by 9am to attend their classroom roll and then meet coaches at their designated areas. We're looking forward to a fantastic day of sport, teamwork, laughter, and school spirit. A little cool weather won't stop our students from making the most of the day!

Netball - Firth Park
Soccer, Frisbee and League - Pizzey Park
Oztag - Coplicks
Mini Tennis - GCA Tennis Courts

🌧️SENIOR ATHLETICS CARNIVAL POSTPONED

Unfortunately Council have closed Pizzey Park today and with the forecast Mother Nature has decided she wasn't quite ready for our Senior Athletics Carnival tomorrow and has delivered us a weather forecast that even the most dedicated athletes would struggle to sprint through!

With student safety and enjoyment our priority, we've made the decision to postpone the carnival until **Thursday 18th June**.

While we know this is disappointing news, we're keeping everything crossed for blue skies, sunshine and perfect athletics conditions next Thursday.

Now, Year 5 and 6 families, we know what you're thinking... "Another change of date in an already packed calendar?!"

For some of our students next week is shaping up to be the Olympics of school events with a few clashing:
1500m / Discus trials
Gala Day
QCup AFL
Surfing
Senior Athletics Carnival

On the bright side, our athletes now have an extra week to fine-tune their sprint starts, perfect their long jump landings, and practice their tug-of-war tactics.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. We appreciate the support of our amazing school community and look forward to an action-packed carnival next Thursday.

Bring on the sunshine, house spirit, friendly rivalry and plenty of smiles!

JEP Wednesday

We have tried to hold off as long as possible but the Skating and Tennis coaches have said too unsafe this morning. Everything else will try to go ahead with modified plans if it continues to rain.

Our Senior Athletics season is officially underway, and what an exciting start it has been!

On Friday morning, our Oceanic Athletics Trials kicked off with the challenging 800m event. Despite the cool conditions, our athletes arrived ready to give it their all, supported by an enthusiastic crowd of parents and staff cheering from the sidelines.

A huge congratulations to every competitor who stepped up to test their endurance and determination. We are especially proud of our first-place finishers, who have now qualified to represent Miami as part of our Athletics Team next term. What a fantastic achievement!

The excitement continues next week with finals for our selected discus throwers, along with our talented 1500m runners who secured a top-two finish at the recent Oceanic Cross Country Meet.

Then, weather permitting, we’ll wrap up our athletics program with our much-anticipated Senior Athletics Carnival at Pizzey Park on Friday, 12 June, from 9:00am–2:30pm. We can’t wait to see our students sprint, jump, throw, and cheer each other on in what promises to be a fantastic day of school spirit, teamwork, and athletic achievement.

Good luck to all our athletes as they continue their preparations.
