What an amazing experience for our educators. This morning we did the Bilbaan cultural Experience commencing at Jigamy’s keeping place and ending at the Pinnacles. Our fabulous guides introduced us to traditional bush foods, medicines, bush signals, culture and practices. It is so good to see that local First Nation language, knowledge and practices live on. Thank you Bundian Way!

Our beautiful Sheridan has just clocked over 10 years service. Please join me in congratulating her on this momentous occasion 👏👏👏 It seems like yesterday she did her work placement with us and started as a casual. Since then she has gone from strength to strength. She is warm, exceptionally caring, easy to talk to whether you are a child, educator or parent. She is a go to for many and fills a room with her welcoming presence. Well done and congratulations Sheridan. I hope you are with us for another ten ###

In recognition of our special mum’s, today we held a surprise Mothers Day draw. We have almost one hundred students enrolled, so used a digital number generator to randomly select four children with one child from the Nursery, one from the Toddler room and two from our Preschool being drawn. Congratulations to the winning mums. And to all other mums, we wish you a very happy Mothers Day for this Sunday.

Today we had a special visit from Fire and Rescue NSW Merimbula Fire Station. It’s very important that children learn fire safety so that they know what to do in an emergency and who safe people are that can help them. The crew included Tommy’s dad Liam. He showed us his protective clothing as well as how to get down low and go, go go! After their talk, the toddler and preschool children had a chance to climb up into the firetruck and to see a demonstration of the fire hose in action.
At Little nippers we practice a range of emergency drills throughout the year including fire drills, lock downs, snake drills, missing child drills and medical emergency drills. These are all designed to familiarise the children and educators with our emergency response plans and keep them safe in case of an unexpected emergency.

You know you have an amazing and dedicated team of educators when they suggest a working bee on their long weekend to transform a space from a dumping and storage space to one that is safe and inviting for children. A huge shout out to all those involved. Feeling weary but satisfied; and cannot wait for the children to see what we’ve done. It’s a work in progress, and now ready for the children to make their mark on the space.

Just wanted to thank our wonderful parents, educators and Woolworths Merimbula for helping us to create this fabulous supermarket set up. Dramatic play areas like this offer children the opportunity to role play, to re-enact/practice activities from their home environment and even include early literacy foundations with the opportunity to write shopping lists, read signs and view letters and words as an important part of everyday life.
The idea for this activity came from our children and is an extension of Munch and Move’s Veggie month in March where the children discussed where they get their vegetables from.
