On Monday the 3-6 students were lucky enough to participate in a session with Craig from Reef HQ in Townsville and Nicole from EcoLinc. Craig taught the students all about Sea Turtles and their lives on the Great Barrier Reef, and Nicole followed with a session on ecosystems, food chains and how we can make changes to help our environment and help animals like our beautiful green sea turtles!🐢

Today our all of students participated in the RACV Safety program. Robyn talked about the importance of safety when in and around cars, when riding their bikes, how to wear their helmets properly and the laws around e-scooters. Some of the facts certainly surprised the students, and they learned a lot from their lessons! Stay safe out there 🚲 🛴 🪖

Our Somers Camp students have returned today, tired, but full of wonderful memories to last a lifetime.

While they were away they faced lots of challenges, tried new things, participated in many Environmental Studies classes, made new friends, and had a whole lot of fun!

This week in OSHC Recycled Crafts: Enchanted Castles!
Thursday afternoon we continue our Receycled Crafts program as we make Enchanted Castles.
This is an extension of our sustainability, recycle, re purpose, reuse initiative, making new things from old stuff.

🍞✨ Fractions are much more fun when you can eat them!
Our Year 2 students have been exploring halves and quarters with a very tasty hands on maths lesson.
Students first drew their fractions on whiteboards, showing how a whole can be divided into equal parts. Then it was time to put their learning into action by carefully cutting their fairy bread to match their drawings.
A great way to make fractions visible, practical and memorable, with a little bit of fairy bread magic along the way! 🌈🍞
