Designed for parents and carers of young people aged 10–18, Tuning in to Teens is a great opportunity to learn practical strategies for staying connected with your child, understanding their emotions and supporting them as they become more independent.

The program provides a great opportunity to connect with other parents, share experiences and learn practical strategies for navigating the teenage years.

Tuning in to Teens - Parent Program

We’re excited to be offering Tuning in to Teens to our OLSH families in Term 4.

The program is targeted at parents and carers of students in Grades 5 and 6, supporting families as children move towards the teenage years and helping parents better understand and respond to their child’s emotions.

While the program is aimed at our Grade 5 and 6 families, any OLSH parent or carer is very welcome to attend. We know some of our younger students have older siblings, so the program may be just as helpful for your family too.

The program will be co-facilitated by Jo Finlayson, Learning Diversity & Wellbeing Leader at OLSH, and Sam Lowe, Head of Learning Diversity at St Joseph’s College.

📅 5-week program commencing Monday, 5 October 2026
⏰ 5:30pm–7:30pm

What a fun day our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students have had! We started the day with some ten-pin bowling, where there were plenty of strikes, spares and lots of cheering! 🎳👏

After working up an appetite, we headed to Pizza Café for a delicious lunch. 🍕😋

We then finished the day with some fun and games at the park. 🌳☀️

A big day of fun, friendship and making memories together! 💙

💛 R U OK? Day at OLSH 💛

A big thank you to all of our students for wearing a splash of yellow today and helping us celebrate R U OK? Day!

More importantly, thank you for being part of the important conversations happening around our school. Checking in with someone, asking “Are you okay?” and taking the time to listen can make a real difference.

We’re proud of our students for helping to make kindness, connection and looking out for one another part of everyday life at OLSH. 💛

We also had two very special surprise visitors today - Mrs Braun and her beautiful new baby, Raffy! It was so lovely to see them both!

🌼 R U OK? Day - Thursday 10th of September 🌼

Thursday 10th of September is R U OK? Day - a day that reminds us of the importance of checking in, starting conversations and looking out for one another. 💛

To help us brighten the day, students are invited to wear a splash of yellow with their school uniform. This could be a ribbon, socks, hair tie, wristband or another small yellow accessory. 🌼

Throughout the day, students will take part in age-appropriate activities and conversations focused on connection, kindness, wellbeing and supporting those around us.

Let’s come together as a school community to check in, connect and care for one another. 💬💛
