🌭 Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Success! 💛

A huge thank you to our wonderful Mentone Pre School community for helping make our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle such a success!

We’re delighted to share that we raised $4,580, our most successful Bunnings fundraiser yet! 🎉

A big thank you to everyone who volunteered their time on the day, helped with planning and preparations, donated goods and vouchers, or supported the event behind the scenes. We’re also so grateful to everyone who came along, bought a sausage, popped by for a visit or helped spread the word.

A special thank you to Bakers Delight Mentone, Thrift Park and Southland, and Woolworths Mentone, Thrift Park and Southland for their generous donations and support. 💛

Fundraising events like these are a fantastic example of what we can achieve together as a community. The money raised will help us continue to maintain and improve our kinder environment for all our children.

Thank you for your generosity, enthusiasm and community spirit. We couldn’t do it without you! 🌭💛

🌸🌼 Spring has sprung at Mentone Preschool!🦋🐝

How exciting it was to return to kinder after the holidays and discover just how much our garden had grown! 🌱🌷

The flowers were blooming, the bees were buzzing, and beautiful butterflies were fluttering all around. There was no mistaking it… spring is here!☀️🌻

And to our surprise, something very special had been growing in our veggie garden over the holidays… a beautiful, homegrown cauliflower! 🥦🌿

Even more amazing? The possums had left it alone! 🐾😂

Our little gardeners were very excited about their harvest!

👀 Stay tuned next week to see what we created with our wonderful kinder-grown cauliflower!👩‍🍳💚

A little reminder for kinder families to please apply SPF50 or SPF50+ broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen to your child before arriving at kinder when UV levels are 3 or above.

UV can still be strong on cool or cloudy days, so please don’t let overcast weather be a reason to skip sun protection. 🌥️

Please also check your child’s sunscreen at kinder regularly and replace it if it has run out or is past its use by date.

Sun-safe hats are provided and always encouraged while children are outdoors.

Thank you for helping us keep our little ones sun safe! 💛

🌿 Term 4 Staff Updates 🌿

We’re excited to share a few staff updates as we get ready for Term 4.

🐬 Meet Gemma, our new 3 Year Old Educator!

We’re delighted to welcome Gemma to our Dolphins group, joining Jacinta and Eunmi from Tuesday 6 October.

Gemma brings with her an incredible 20+ years of Early Childhood experience and is already a familiar face to many families in our Mentone Pre School community.

After completing her Graduate Diploma in 2025, Gemma was excited to find her place in a sessional community kindergarten, and we’re so pleased that place is here with us!

“I love working with children, where I can read stories, sing, dance and have fun, all while teaching them skills for life. I have the best job in the world!”

🌱 Faye moves to the 4 Year Old Group

We’re also excited to announce that Faye Scott will be moving from the 3 Year Old Group to become an educator in our 4 Year Old Groups from Term 4.

Faye already knows many of the children well, having worked with them last year and as an additional assistant this year. She’ll be working Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, commencing Monday 5 October.

A big congratulations to both Faye and Gemma on their new roles! 💛 We’re so lucky to have them as part of our Mentone Pre School team and can’t wait for the children to get settled into Term 4.

Dirty kids are happy kids, right? 😂

What a wonderful Term 2 & 3 we’ve had at Bush Kinder! 🌱🤎

Our little explorers have enjoyed so many muddy, messy and wonderful discoveries, from hunting for bugs 🐛 and balancing on logs, to drawing in the sand, climbing, splashing through puddles and getting stuck into the mud.

There’s something pretty special about learning outdoors, getting messy and letting curiosity lead the way.

What a beautiful way to wrap up another wonderful season of Bush Kinder! 🌿

Some of the best kinder moments are the simplest.

At the end of each 4yo session, the children gather for one last story and a goodbye rhyme. Soon the room is full of little voices joining in, all smiles before heading home.

Some days, the goodbye rhyme is made even more memorable, especially when Michelle fully commits to the role and turns up dressed as a rainbow unicorn. 🦄 (Don’t worry, that was just for Pyjama Day… although the children might wish it happened every week!)

Whether it’s “Gotta Bail, Bue Whale” or “Au Revoir, Sea Star”, these silly little rhymes have become a favourite way to end the day together.

It’s these small rituals that children remember long after kinder is over. 💛
