The Mentone Grammar social media channels are a place of respect, inclusion and positive encouragement. Administrators reserve the right to hide or delete comments, block or remove users and report abusive behaviour. Our social media channels are monitored daily. · Do not post or comment about concerns, problems, or conflicts with individual teachers, administrators, students, or parents. We will delete content that in any way defames or discriminates against individuals and the offending member may be removed from the group.

· The social media channels are not an appropriate forum for discussion or commentary about School policies and procedures. Please contact the School directly to raise any concerns.

· Please be mindful that what you post or comment is publicly visible.

· Inappropriate language, cyberbullying or abuse will not be tolerated. Members who do not abide by this rule will be permanently removed from the group and further action may be taken.

· Online threats will be taken seriously, and proper authorities will be immediately notified.

· Do not post photos of any kind to the page – only School-sanctioned photos will be posted to official Mentone Grammar social channels.

AEROBICS NATIONALS SUCCESS! 🌟

A huge congratulations to our incredible Years 5 – 12 Aerobics students, who proudly represented Mentone Grammar at the 2026 FISAF Australian National Championships on the Gold Coast, Queensland, across Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September.

Our 22 talented students delivered fantastic performances on the national stage, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work, dedication and team spirit!

A special congratulations to our outstanding teams:

ANGLICARE FOOD DRIVE – SOCIAL SERVICE TEAM

Last term, our dedicated Year 12 Social Service Captains, Claire C and Michelle V, together with the Social Service Team, have been working hard to support Anglicare’s wonderful FoodBoost Food Drive.

As cost-of-living pressures continue to affect families across Victoria, more people are turning to charitable organisations for support with everyday essentials. We believe that no one in our community should have to go hungry, which is why we are proud to partner with Anglicare, a not-for-profit organisation supporting vulnerable Victorians experiencing hardship.

The response from our School community has been outstanding. Thanks to the generosity of our students, families and staff, the Social Service Team was able to sort and fill more than 41 large 52-litre boxes with donated goods. These contributions will provide much-needed support to people experiencing homelessness and hardship.

In addition to the donated goods, the School will make a $5,000 financial contribution, raised through the BBQ and Casual Clothes Day held on Friday 11 September. Our popular inaugural “Splash the Teacher” fundraiser also raised an additional $711, bringing even more support to this important cause.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, participated, volunteered or helped make this year’s food drive such a tremendous success!

🏉 INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION

Our Year 5 & 6 girls were lucky enough to welcome players from the St Kilda AFLW team for a fantastic afternoon of conversation, inspiration and footy!

The players kicked off the visit with a Q&A, sharing their experiences of playing at an elite level. Our students asked some great questions about overcoming injuries and losses, celebrating victories, being part of a team, playing professionally and what it takes to become an elite sportsperson.

Then it was time to head out to the Bayview Oval, where the players put our students through their paces with a fun and energetic skills session.

A wonderful opportunity for our girls to learn from elite female athletes, hear about the highs and challenges of professional sport, and be inspired by where a love of sport can take you. ❤️🤍🖤

VET HOSPITALITY SHOWCASE

Holmesglen Institute's ZEST Restaurant recently hosted a fantastic event showcasing the culinary and front of house skills of second-year Hospitality students. A special congratulations to Zara M (Year 12), who completed her Cookery qualification and independently created a delicious chocolate morsel!

Zara has been honing her patisserie skills throughout the year through her work placement with Penny for Pound. Planning a career in the Hospitality industry, she will next year undertake a dual diploma in Commercial Cookery & Patisserie with William Angliss Institute.

Zara's VET studies have provided an excellent foundation to pursue her passion, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

ONE FOOT FORWARD – JOIN THE WALK FOR MENTAL HEALTH

This Saturday 10 October marks World Mental Health Day. At Mentone Grammar, wellbeing is at the centre of the educational experience. We believe prioritising mental health and wellbeing is important not only for our students, but also for our families, friends and the wider community. This year's Australian theme, 'Together We Thrive', reminds us of the power of connection, support and looking after one another.

That's why we're once again taking part in One Foot Forward, a free virtual walking challenge supporting the work of the Black Dog Institute. Together, we can promote self-care and mental health awareness while supporting the 1 in 5 Australians affected by mental illness.

We invite our entire community to get involved, stay active and connect with one another throughout October. Choose a distance or goal that works for you and participate in your own way. Whether you walk with family and friends, head out with the dog, go for a run, or simply add a few extra kilometres to your daily routine, every step is an opportunity to support your own wellbeing while helping raise awareness for mental health.

Our incoming 2027 Wellbeing Captains, Daisy D and Sam V (Year 11), are the key contacts for students and will be encouraging participation across the School. Are you keen to join the Mentone Grammar team for a worthy cause?

SCOTT DARLOW | FINDING STRENGTH IN IDENTITY

Our Year 8 students were captivated by a powerful presentation from Aboriginal singer-songwriter, educator and public speaker Scott Darlow from Yorta Yorta country.

Drawing on stories from his upbringing, travels and career in music, Scott explored themes of identity, belonging, culture and racism, encouraging students to reflect on their own experiences and perspectives.

Students and staff were also treated to live performances of his hit songs 'Solid Rock' and 'You Can't See Black in the Dark', bringing his message to life through music.

The session was both thought-provoking and entertaining, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.

JUNIOR SCHOOL PET SERVICE

Surrounded by some very well-behaved four-legged friends, our Foundation – Year 6 students gathered on Bayview Oval on Wednesday 16 September 2026 for a special chapel service celebrating the joy and companionship our pets bring to our lives.

Beautifully led by our Year 6 students, the service also featured heartfelt prayers from our Foundation students. Afterwards, classes enjoyed some special cuddle time with the dogs brought along by their classmates.

A special thank you to our Social Service Team, who presented donations of pet food, toys and bedding to Pets for the Homeless. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our Junior School community, we collected enough supplies to support more than 400 pets!

It was a wonderful celebration of kindness, compassion and community, helping make a meaningful difference for people in need and their much-loved furry companions.

COLOURS OF CREATIVITY 2026 | 21 – 28 OCTOBER

Mentone Grammar's annual Art, Design, Media & Technology Expo opens in two weeks, showcasing outstanding works by students in Years 7 – 12.

Congratulations to Amilla M (Year 12), whose VCE Media Unit 3/4 Product was selected as the exhibition centrepiece. We spoke with Amilla about the story behind the piece, exploring the creative choices and personal significance that brought it to life.

"'Can You Reach the Light' is more than just a book; it’s a parallel of our world that forays upon celebrity culture and the manipulation of the media. In a world devoid of colour, Elaine Arora rises to become a beloved film star whose tragic death leaves behind a legacy marked by both influence and scandal. Eighty years later, her book, containing traces of colour, reveals the impossibility of achieving perfection and true contentment, exposing the falsehoods that stem from individual insecurity.”

All are welcome at the official opening on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at 6.30pm in the Thorold Theatre at Mentone Grammar’s Creativity Centre, with the exhibition open from 6.00pm – 8.00pm.

We’re off to see the Wizard!

Follow Dorothy and Toto over the rainbow and along the Yellow Brick Road as they journey through the magical Land of Oz. Along the way, they’ll meet Munchkins, witches, talking trees and winged monkeys, as well as a Scarecrow searching for a brain, a Tin Man longing for a heart and a Lion hoping to find his courage.

Filled with adventure, friendship and plenty of magic, our 2026 Junior Musical, The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition is one you won’t want to miss!
