Day two of our Canberra excursion. We started the day bright and early and made it to Old Parliament House by 8:30am, enjoying a tour and designing our own “Senate” proposals, presenting them to our friends. We then moved on to New Parliament House, where we toured through the Senate, the House of Representatives, and then explored the forecourt. We had a little time to spare so we took our bus up to Mt Ainslie lookout where we had a spectacular view over the whole of Canberra and could see how well planned out the city is.
After lunch we explored the War Memorial and were amazed at stories of bravery, and some amazing military machines. We finished this tour with a glimpse at The Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier, which was very memorable and moving. We then moved on to the Australian Institute of Sport where we were treated to a tour by two fantastic volleyball players, who showed us all around the gym, pool and other facilities that the Institute offers its athletes. We finished the day with laser tag and arcade games, which brought out our competitive streaks and topped off a huge, fun and very informative day! Phew! Dinner, showers and bed, and then up to do it all again tomorrow! Watch this space!
Oh! And last but not least, we wished Tom a very happy 10th birthday 🎂 🎈 🎁

Our 3-6 students have hit the ground running in Canberra! After arrival we went straight to the National Capital Authority where we learned about the history and planning of Canberra, and then we hit the Royal Australian Mint where we learnt all about the process of making our coins, the history of our currency, and saw some amazing rare coins too. We hit our accommodation and had a quiet night, regaining our energy ready for day two! Will keep you all posted!

Our students had an amazing day today at the Mendooran Young Judges Day.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Mendooran PA&H for putting together an incredible event and a delicious lunch. No amount of rain was going ruin the day and with 150 students and 50 presenters and volunteers, everyone had a great time!
Students had to judge cattle, wool and sheep while also attending presentations about the Fire Brigade, Police, VRA, LLS, auctioneering, machinery, sheep handler, horse racing/jockey career and watched a display by farriers on how to make horse shoes.
Thank you to all of the amazing people who helped put today together for the benefit of our students.
