An original trunk belonging to a William Wells NX38922 of the 6th Division's 2/3rd Battalion.
It is filled with the usual stuff you may find in a soldier's trunk in the later part of the Second World War.

5th of August, 1944, saw the largest POW breakout in modern history. On this day, outside of the New South Wales town of Cowra, Lieutenant Harry Doncaster was killed when ambushed during the recapture of the (Japanese) prisoners.

Today we remember the sacrifice of the brave soldiers who defended our way of life, both overseas and at home. 75 years ago, to the day, Harry Doncaster gave his life, and today we pay our respects with a presentation of native flowers, and a moment of silence.

It is at times like these we must take time out of our day to remember the men and women who allowed us to get where we are now. Lest we forget.
