Writing their name in capital letters isn’t a disaster—but it shouldn’t be the only version they see or practise.

Children are learning more than how to control a pencil. They’re also learning that:

✏️ A name begins with a capital letter
✏️ The remaining letters are lowercase
✏️ Letters follow a consistent pattern and direction

If your child currently writes their whole name in capitals, don’t make them feel as though they’ve done something wrong. Simply begin modelling the conventional version beside it and encourage them to copy one lowercase letter at a time.

The mistake isn’t reading books too early. 🕰️

Books matter 📚 But they aren’t always enough.

If your child is learning to read and it’s still not clicking, they don’t need more books…

They need the sound skills that come before reading 🔤

Hearing sounds. 👂
Blending sounds. (m-a-t = mat)
Changing sounds. (mat to pat)

That’s the missing foundation so many kids need 🧠✨

Big words aren’t scary once you break them down 😧

💡 Un-der…→ sounds → spelled.

Syllables make even the trickiest words manageable — no memorising required.

📚 Ever notice English words almost NEVER end in U? 🤔

That’s why “true,” “clue,” and “hue” sneak in a silent E — it’s basically E’s job to close out the word! 💛

💬 Comment a word ending in U — I’ll tell you if it’s a true exception or secretly borrowed from another language! 👀
