Simple throwing and catching equipment. I think we all forget anything is educational. That is my biggest take away this week.
🧸🎈Children can practice their catching skills at home using everyday items like rolled up socks, soft toys or balloons. You don’t need special equipment.
🏐They can play catching inside or head to a local park if they’d like more space to move.

At the learning forest I am always trying to try new things, be an activity or a membership. This year I decided to pay for a toy library membership. This is instead of purchasing toys and needing to then find a home for them. And with such a vast range of interests and ages, I thought this would be a smart choice. I ofcourse love that it is also more sustainable, which makes my heart so happy. And it has been a winner so far, my school aged son loved that they had board games that we didn't have. I so love when an idea is beneficial and works out well.

Yesterday we enjoyed a toddler sensory session. This was run by the melton city council, the kiddies loved the session and didn't want to leave. Keep up the good work events team.

Some ways we can share kindness for valentines day or every day.
Today we enjoyed bubbles. The kiddies have been asking for them lately. It also then extended to watching the bubbles float down, Poppy's the bubbles, stomp the bubbles, watch them move with the direction of the cooling and look at the different colours of the bubbles.

Yesterday afternoon, we enjoyed some craft time while the weather was nice but not to hot.
The toddler enjoyed painting on the stand up clear board and the schoolie enjoyed making glow in the dark jars.
The toddler was practicing her colour mixing skills yellow and red = orange.
The schoolie was problem solving how we can decorate the glass jars. She initially wanted to draw on the outside with textas, i suggested using paper on the inside of the jars. She wasnt keen on that idea. She then wanted to paint the outside and asked if we have anything to make them glow in the dark.
When I suggested glow sticks, she wasn't sure it would work because of the size difference of the objects. But we curled the glow sticks in the jar and they worked perfectly. My son even got to enjoy playing with them in the dark hallway.
Such a great way to ignite the curiousity of young children. A simple science experiment and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
