Year 7 STEM Academy | Monash University
Yesterday, our Year 7 STEM Academy students stepped into the world of engineering at Monash University, taking part in a robotics workshop led by the Nova Rover student engineering team.
Fresh from securing second place at the 2026 World University Rover Challenge in the United States, the team gave students a firsthand look at what it takes to design, build and deliver a complex robotics project on the world stage.
Working collaboratively, students assembled their own miniature BB-Platypus rovers, building everything from the chassis and gears to the circuit boards and motors. Along the way, they developed their problem solving, teamwork and engineering skills while gaining insight into the many pathways available in STEM.
The day concluded with a rover challenge, where teams put their creations to the test in a closely contested competition. In a dramatic, Bradbury style finish, Team Cheese rolled away with the win.
Experiences like these give students the opportunity to see engineering in action, ask questions of industry experts, and imagine where their own curiosity and creativity might take them.

There was plenty of pink pride at Legally Blonde Jr., but for one family, the show carried an extra special meaning.
Liza Williams, who starred as Elle Woods in her first lead role, was cheered on by three generations of Korovians: her mother, Lucinda Williams (Wootton, Class of 2001), aunt, Kirrily Wootton (Class of 2003), and grandmother, Jeanne Sorich (Douglas, Class of 1973).
From Jeanne's time at Korowa in the 1970s to Lucinda and Kirrily's involvement in Performing Arts, and now Liza taking centre stage, it is a story woven through generations of school life.
Liza is the fourth generation of her family to attend Korowa, continuing a connection that spans more than 70 years when her great-great aunt, Barbara Dance graduated in 1954.
Watching Liza shine as Elle Woods was a proud moment for a family with deep connections in our community. We have no doubt this is just the beginning for Liza of many memorable performances to come.
Jennifer (Year 11) | Senior School Assembly
During our recent Senior School Assembly, Jennifer (Year 11) captivated the audience with a stunning cello performance of Lalo Cello Concerto in D Minor, 2nd Movement, Intermezzo.
Jennifer brought this beautiful work to life, creating a special moment for our school community. We are incredibly proud to see our students sharing their talents and enriching our assemblies through performance.

Finding Nemo Jr. rehearsals
Rehearsals have begun for our Junior School production of Finding Nemo Jr.
Fresh from the success of Legally Blonde Jr., our Performing Arts team is already hard at work, diving into the colourful world of the Great Barrier Reef and bringing Finding Nemo Jr. to life.
Before long, our cast will be making themselves at home among the sea anemones as they embark on this underwater adventure.
Stay tuned as we introduce you to our cast leads. In the meantime... just keep swimming! 🐠

Congratulations Tanja Nishibata | Australian Masters Rowing Championships
Korowa’s Strength and Conditioning Coach, Tanja Nishibata, made history at the 2026 Australian Masters Rowing Championships in Western Australia, finishing as the highest ranked female athlete across the regatta.
Competing against some of the country’s strongest Masters rowers, Tanja secured an extraordinary 11 medals, including nine gold and two bronze. Among her standout results were victories in the Interstate Quad and the prestigious Champion of Champions Single Scull, one of the most fiercely contested events of the championships.
Beyond the medals, Tanja is a powerful role model for our students. Her drive to continually challenge herself and pursue excellence reflects the mindset we encourage across all areas of school life. Congrats Tanja!

It's been almost two weeks since we unveiled our refurbished Junior School Library: https://www.korowa.vic.edu.au/post/junior-school-library-refurbishment
It has been wonderful to see students embracing their new space. From our youngest learners in the ELC venturing upstairs to enjoy the cosy reading nooks, to Junior School students spending quiet moments reading and sharing books with friends, the library is already full of life.
If there's one thing Korowa loves, it's reading. We're thrilled our students now have a space where they can discover new genres, explore different perspectives, and journey to distant worlds through books, all within an environment that feels warm, welcoming, and contemporary.
Thank you to the Korowa Foundation for making this transformation possible and for providing our students with a place they will enjoy for years to come.

Year 8 RoboSoccer incursion
Coding met competition as our Year 8 students took part in a hands-on RoboSoccer incursion with The Brainary.
Students were introduced to Fable robots and challenged to code them to play a game of soccer. Working as robotics engineers, programmers, and strategists, they tested ideas, refined their code, and brought their robotic players to life on the field.
As part of Korowa’s STEM Academy, experiences like this give students practical opportunities to explore robotics, problem solving, collaboration, and creative thinking in action.
Thank you to The Brainary for bringing this engaging STEM workshop to Korowa and helping our students step into the world of robotics with curiosity and confidence.

Our Year 4 students recently swapped the classroom for the city as they explored some of Melbourne’s most significant historical sites.
Travelling by train into the city, their first stop was Enterprise Wharf, where they learned about the arrival of the first ships to Melbourne in 1835. They then visited the Immigration Museum and took part in the Our Story education program, examining artefacts and personal stories that highlight the experiences of people who migrated to Victoria from around the world.
Students also had the opportunity to explore the museum's exhibitions before enjoying lunch and walking across Sandridge Bridge, where they discovered the many reasons people have chosen to make Victoria home throughout history.
It was a wonderful day of hands on learning, bringing History to life and helping students deepen their understanding of the stories, people, and events that have shaped our community.

Year 7 Science with Ms Williams
There has been plenty of hands on learning in Year 7 Science this semester. Recently, students explored separation techniques through an evaporation experiment, investigating how mixtures can be separated by removing a liquid and leaving the dissolved solid behind.
Working in pairs and small groups, students carefully measured, heated, observed, and recorded their results while following safe laboratory practices. Along the way, they developed key scientific skills including observation, data collection, and critical thinking.
From learning new concepts to putting them into practice in the laboratory, our Year 7 students are discovering that science is about curiosity, experimentation, and asking questions about how the world works.
