Hey all,
Queenie van de Zandt here - popping on to AMTA's page to give a shout-out to one of our - my old student .Traner.9 who smashed it, along with the rest of the talented cast of A BEAUTIFUL NOISE: ThE NEIL DIAMOND MUSICAL, which opened at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne on the weekend.
I was thrilled to be at the opening night, along with my friend MD/performer/writer Bridget A'Beckett, to watch Alana shine, as she always does, playing the role of Neil Diamond's first wife, Jaye Posner.
It's such a thrill to see students I've worked with living their dream and doing such great work. It's a wonderful thing as a performer and teacher to be a small part of helping along the next generation of performers.
If you'd like to learn the audition and performance technique I taught to Alana and hundreds of students like her - so many who have gone on to play leading roles in musicals - I'm currently taking on students. I only have 5 places left. You can apply here: https://www.amta.net.au/cc-home.html

One of my beloved ex-students needs our support.
AMTA Alumni Jacinta Bentley is a graduate of both the Musical Theatre Intensive Weekly Masterclasses in Melb course and the How to Belt Like a Pro in Brisbane weekend workshop. She then also organised a workshop for me to lead with her beloved amateur theatre group - the Coffs Harbour Musical Comedy Company. She is a very talented and passionate performer and a fantastic human.
Earlier this year Jessica was diagnosed with Glioblastoma.
For those who are not familiar, glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. It grows rapidly and spreads into surrounding brain tissue, making it very difficult to treat. Glioblastoma is a terminal brain cancer.
Jacinta is currently based in Wagga Wagga for treatment, while her boys remain in Coffs Harbour with their dad. Being apart during this time has been incredibly hard. The boys are travelling back and forth to see their mum whenever possible.
Alongside the emotional toll, the practical and financial pressures have quickly become overwhelming. This fundraiser has been created to help ease the financial burden on the family - allowing Jacinta to focus on her health, while ensuring her boys are supported and cared for throughout this journey.
Funds raised will support:
• helping Jacinta spend precious time with her boys and create lasting memories together
• medical and treatment-related expenses
• loss of income during treatment and recovery
• household and day-to-day living costs
This is when community makes all the difference. This is an opportunity for all of us to be hero’s. Please donate - every dollar counts - together we can make a huge difference.
And either way - please share - even if you can’t donate, sharing this is just as powerful - as someone in your circle can.
Together we can make a difference to the beautiful Jacinta.
