🇱🇰 Heartfelt Condolences: Loss of a Fellow Sri Lankan in Brisbane Car Crash

Dear Community,

It is with deep sorrow that we share news of the tragic passing of a young Sri Lankan man in a car accident that occurred in Northgate, Brisbane, on the night of August 2, 2025.

According to police reports, the vehicle he was in veered off Earnshaw Road and struck a tree at approximately 10:10 PM. Sadly, the young man—reportedly in his twenties and a former student of Maliyadeva College lost his life at the scene. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Logan, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Investigations are ongoing, with speed considered a possible factor.

While official sources have not yet released his identity, members of the Sri Lankan community have come forward, confirming he was one of our own—a student who had dreams, friendships, and a future in Australia.

This devastating incident is a sobering reminder of how fragile life can be. For those who knew him personally, and for those of us connected by culture, language, and shared experience, this loss is felt deeply.
