Why not enjoy both in one day?

Come down and join Noble Reptile Shows on Saturday the 25th to celebrate naidoc week (50 years of deadly 🖤💛❤️) at Suns Club Tarneit! While you're cheering on the Suns, make sure to stop by and meet some amazing reptiles. You'll have the chance to hold a snake or two, learn some fascinating reptile facts, and have fun with the whole family!

Today we're celebrating some of Australia's most misunderstood animals – snakes! 💚
Did you know? 🐍 Snakes don't chase people – they would much rather avoid us. 🐍 They use their tongues to "smell" the world around them. 🐍 Snakes play a vital role in nature by helping control rodent populations and keeping ecosystems healthy. 🐍 Not all snakes are dangerous, and every snake deserves respect.

At Noble Reptile Shows, our passion is education. We love giving people the chance to meet these incredible animals up close in a safe environment, helping replace fear with understanding. Whether we're visiting schools, birthday parties, community events or festivals, our goal is to inspire respect for Australia's amazing wildlife and teach people how to stay safe around reptiles.
Every person who leaves one of our shows with a new appreciation for snakes is exactly why we do what we do. 💚

❌ MYTH: “Macaws are just colourful parrots that copy words.”
✅ FACT: Macaws are incredibly intelligent birds with amazing problem-solving skills, strong memories, and unique personalities! Some macaws can learn words and sounds, but they also communicate through body language, calls, and even facial expressions.
❌ MYTH: “All macaws are friendly and love cuddles.”
✅ FACT: Just like people, every macaw is different! Some are super social, while others can be shy, loud, cheeky, or very independent. Building trust with a macaw takes time, patience, and respect.
❌ MYTH: “Macaws only use their beaks for biting.”
✅ FACT: A macaw’s beak is like a built-in multi-tool! They use it for climbing, cracking nuts, exploring objects, grooming, and yes… occasionally testing boundaries too 😂

A day in the life at Noble Reptile Shows 🐍🦎🐸
People often see the fun side of what we do — holding snakes, showing off reptiles, meeting amazing people and sharing our passion for animals. And yes, there’s plenty of that!
But behind the scenes? It’s also p**p, mud, cleaning enclosures, washing water bowls, preparing feeds, late nights, early mornings and getting dirty almost every single day 😂
Some people might think parts of our job are “yuck”... but honestly, we love every second of it.
Because every clean enclosure, every feed, every bit of hard work helps keep our reptiles healthy, happy and thriving. These animals are family to us, and caring for them is something we’re proud to do ❤️
It’s not always glamorous, but we wouldn’t trade this life for anything.

Did you know… a snake can smell with its tongue? 👅
Snakes flick their tongues out to collect tiny scent particles from the air, then place them onto a special organ in the roof of their mouth called the Jacobson’s organ! That’s how they track food, find mates, and explore the world around them.
So next time you see a snake tongue flicking, it’s not being scary… it’s just “sniffing” you out! 😄

🐍 Ever wonder why snakes seem to disappear during the colder months and suddenly pop back up when the weather warms up?
Snakes are ectothermic animals, meaning they rely on the temperature around them to control their body heat. During hotter weather, snakes become much more active because the warmth helps them digest food, move around, hunt, and breed. That’s why you’re more likely to spot them sunbaking or out exploring on warm days. ☀️
When the cooler weather arrives, snakes slow right down and enter a state called brumation. Brumation is similar to hibernation, but there are some important differences.
❄️ Hibernation is what mammals like bears do. During hibernation they fall into a deep sleep and stay asleep for long periods while their body functions slow dramatically.
🐍 Brumation is different because reptiles don’t fully sleep the entire time. Snakes become very inactive and may hide away in burrows, rock crevices, or logs to stay safe and warm, but they can still wake up to drink water or move around on warmer days before returning back to shelter.
So if you see a snake out on a random sunny winter day, don’t be too surprised — they’re simply taking advantage of the warmth before cooling down again! 🌿
