Week 5 of Our Buddy Program with Wattle Park Primary School
Today marked the 5th week of our wonderful buddy program with WPPS. It was lovely to welcome the primary school children as they spent time connecting with our kinder group.
Together, the children engaged in a variety of activities including painting, building, reading, science exploration, and outdoor running games. These shared experiences support confidence, social skills, and a sense of belonging as our kinder children prepare for their school journey.
We truly value this partnership and look forward to continuing to build these meaningful connections between our centre and the school community.

Celebrating Reconciliation Week in the Nursery
Yesterday, our nursery children celebrated Reconciliation Week through a meaningful and creative experience. The children explored finger painting using the colours of the Aboriginal flag: red, black, and yellow while learning about their significance.
This hands-on activity supported sensory development and encouraged early conversations about respect, culture, and belonging. It was a wonderful way for our youngest learners to begin connecting with the importance of Reconciliation Week in an age-appropriate and engaging way.
We are proud to create opportunities that foster inclusivity, cultural awareness, and respect from an early age.

Growing, Learning and Exploring
Today our Kinder children had a wonderful time engaging in hands-on gardening experiences. They worked together to create a garden bed, learning about teamwork, responsibility, and caring for the environment. The children then planted a variety of vegetables, exploring where food comes from and how plants grow.
This experience supports children’s connection to nature and promotes sustainability, while also encouraging curiosity, patience, and a sense of achievement. We look forward to watching our garden grow and continuing to nurture these valuable learning opportunities.

Aboriginal Corroboree - Week 15
Today marked our 15th week of Aboriginal Corroboree, with Sara leading a meaningful and engaging session. We began by respectfully acknowledging Country, supporting children to develop an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and fostering a sense of respect for the land and its traditional custodians.
The children then watched the “Taba Naba” song, where they actively engaged through observation and movement, enhancing their listening skills and cultural awareness. Following this, the children listened attentively to the story of the Rainbow Serpent.
To extend their learning, the children participated in a creative pasting activity, constructing their own Rainbow Serpent. Overall, the session provided a rich opportunity for children to connect with Aboriginal culture through music, storytelling, and art, fostering respect, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

Celebrating Reconciliation Week at the Centre
During Reconciliation Week, our centre came together to engage in a range of meaningful and creative experiences that celebrated connection, respect, and learning.
Across all rooms, children and educators contributed to a collaborative canvas tile project, expressing themselves through freestyle drawing. We will make all the tiles into a mural on the wall.
We also explored sensory play through activities such as rock painting, playdough, and other hands-on experiences that encouraged creativity and curiosity.
As a community, we proudly wore yellow to show our support and commitment to reconciliation, fostering conversations about respect, inclusion, and understanding.
These experiences provided valuable opportunities for children to learn about the importance of community, culture, and belonging in a developmentally appropriate and engaging way.

National Simultaneous Storytime 2026
Today we celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime across our centre.
All of our rooms enjoyed this year’s featured story, Luna Roo. It was wonderful to see children engaging in shared reading experiences, building a love for books, and connecting through storytelling alongside thousands of others across Australia.
Moments like these highlight the joy of literacy, imagination, and community in early childhood. We loved seeing the children’s curiosity, participation, and excitement throughout the day.
