Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Mrs G and Miss Jacobs from Camelot Rise Primary School to Kids on Gallaghers for a wonderful school transition session with our Kinder children.

The morning began with introductions, allowing the children to build connections with future teachers in a warm and relaxed environment. Mrs G and Miss Jacobs then shared the story I Spy, engaging the children in an interactive discussion before leading them in a fun game of their own I Spy. The session concluded with small group experiences where the children enjoyed drawing and colouring alongside their peers and teachers.

These visits play an important role in supporting children’s transition to school by fostering a sense of belonging, confidence and familiarity with the school environment and key educators. Building strong connections between early childhood settings, schools and the wider community aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), particularly Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity, and Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world.

By creating meaningful partnerships with local schools, we are supporting children to develop positive relationships, feel secure in new environments, and approach their school journey with confidence and excitement.

A big thank you to Mrs G and Miss Jacobs for spending time with our children today. We look forward to continuing this valuable partnership and supporting our children as they take the next step in their learning journey.

Today at Kids on Gallaghers, our funded kindergarten children took part in an exciting hands-on woodwork incursion with Hammer & Heart. The children were introduced to real tools in a safe and supportive environment and used their creativity, problem-solving skills, and fine motor coordination to design and build their very own wooden robots.

It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they explored new skills, followed step-by-step instructions, and proudly brought their ideas to life through construction and design. Each child was deeply engaged and supported as they experienced the joy of creating something unique with their own hands.

This experience supported learning across the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), particularly:

Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity – building confidence and independence as they successfully used tools and completed their own creation
Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world – collaborating with peers, sharing materials, and participating in a shared learning experience
Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing – developing fine motor skills, coordination, resilience, and persistence
Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners – engaging in problem-solving, experimentation, and hands-on learning
Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators – discussing ideas, following instructions, and expressing creativity through design

A fantastic experience that combined learning, creativity, and fun—leaving each child with a robot they can proudly take home! A huge thank you to Tom for sharing his skills and knowledge with us!

🚒👮‍♀️ Thank a First Responder Day 👮‍♂️🚓

Today at Kids on Gallaghers, we were incredibly fortunate to welcome members of our local Police and Fire Services to our centre.

The children proudly presented handmade thank you cards and banners to express their appreciation for the important work first responders do every day to keep our community safe. The Kinder children were especially excited to explore the police cars and fire truck, ask questions, and learn more about the roles of these community helpers.

Experiences like these help children develop an understanding of belonging within their community and foster respect for the people who help and protect us.

We are so grateful to our local first responders for taking the time to visit and create such meaningful learning opportunities for our children.

Thank you for your service, dedication, bravery and care❤️

• Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators as they share their thoughts, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations with community helpers.
