We're all guilty of this at some point in our lives but why does the pattern repeat? You may have the strongest intentions to lose weight, get a new job or simply maintain a healthy relationship but at some point we fall back into old behaviours almost as if somebody else had taken control. đŽ
What if I'm not good enough? What if I fail? These are the voices of weakness but the voices we know all to well. They allow us to justify our unhappiness as the fear of the unknown is much greater than the devil we know. Much like the comfort our parents provide, this is safe but you will never know your potential unless you are subjected to challenges. You will be challenged, whether you like it or not but better to be prepared than caught off guard. đ
We've pretty much all heard by now that approximately 95% of the thoughts and behaviours you have are the same as the day before so it makes sense that it will require a little more than wishful thinking to achieve the task at hand.
So here are my 4 habits to achieving that which you desire. đ
- Prioritise routine. You can adjust on consistency and when measured, you are able to adjust further thus achieving the task faster and clearer. âī¸
- Sleep. When you are under slept, your frontal cortex is suppressed (long term planning, decision making and emotional reasoning) and the amygdala is enhanced (emotions) making us irrational, terrible at making decisions and poor willpower. âī¸
- Be prepared. When you are one step ahead, what could have been an obstacle is removed and you are left with what is eventually a habit. A strong attribute of success. âī¸
- Affirmations. You are what you tell yourself and as you've seen prior, the poor self talk you let run wild has you stuck in a loop so it only makes sense that positive affirmations will set you free. What you will need is to visualise what each word means and how it feels. Repeat after me, out loud and with intent "I am fearless in the pursuit of my dreams." âī¸
