Over the past few days, the students from our Bentleigh, Mathesi, and Doncaster Saturday campuses had the pleasure of welcoming the Educational Institution “Hellenism of Anatolia, from the Aegean Sea to Pontos.”
Through a virtual tour of the Library of Ephesus, they enjoyed a wonderful journey through history and learned about the remarkable Greeks who came from
Anatolia, as well as their important contribution to Hellenism. 🏛️📚✨

In the Demosthenia – Years 11/12 category, our students won all three prizes:

Students from the Greek Community Schools of Melbourne participated in the Eleftherios Venizelos student Competition. Inspired by personal items belonging to Venizelos, students created unique artworks and models showcasing both their creativity and historical understanding.
First Prize was awarded to Eliza Blias and Evangelia Petrou, Wollert Campus for their clay model of Venizelos’ pen.
Second Prize was awarded to Paschalina Kotroni, Zoe Retsina and Adelfi Blanas, Alphington Campus who created Venizelos’ passport, inspired by his suitcase and many travels.
Congratulations to all our students and teachers for their creativity and hard work! 💙🤍

🏆 Congratulations to the students of the GCM Schools, who have received multiple awards at the 7th International Youth Theatre On Air Festival 2026.
Competing alongside entries from Greece, Cyprus and Greek communities around the world, our students were recognised for their creativity, theatrical expression and commitment to the Greek language.

Greek Community Schools students had the wonderful opportunity to visit the educational exhibition “A Journey Through the Library of Ephesus: Personalities of Asia Minor.”
Through this enriching experience, students explored the history, culture and legacy of Hellenism in Asia Minor, connected with an important part of our heritage, and learned about some of the most significant Greek personalities of Anatolia.
A big thank you to the organisers for such a meaningful and inspiring exhibition.

Καθώς τιμούμε την Εβδομάδα Εθνικής Συμφιλίωσης (National Reconciliation Week), στεκόμαστε με σεβασμό απέναντι στη σημασία της αλήθειας, της κατανόησης, του σεβασμού και της κοινής ευθύνης στην Αυστραλία.
Χθες, οι μαθητές μας έμαθαν για την National Sorry Day και τη σημασία της αναγνώρισης της ιστορίας, των εμπειριών και της διαρκούς δύναμης των Aboriginal και Torres Strait Islander peoples. Μέσα από τα μαθήματά τους, γνωρίζουν επίσης την ιστορία των Πρώτων Λαών της Αυστραλίας και αποκτούν βαθύτερη κατανόηση για έναν από τους αρχαιότερους συνεχόμενους πολιτισμούς στον κόσμο.
Ως πολυπολιτισμικός οργανισμός, πιστεύουμε πως η συμφιλίωση αφορά όλους τους Αυστραλούς. Διδάσκουμε στα παιδιά μας ότι, παρότι προερχόμαστε από διαφορετικές κουλτούρες, γλώσσες και παραδόσεις, όλοι αξίζουμε τα ίδια δικαιώματα, την ίδια αξιοπρέπεια και τον ίδιο σεβασμό.
Μια ισχυρότερη πολυπολιτισμική Αυστραλία χτίζεται μέσα από τη γνώση, την κατανόηση και την αλληλεγγύη.

On Saturday, the Opening Ceremony of the 7th International Festival “Theatre on Radio – Youth Theatre On Air 2026” was held with great success. For the seventh consecutive year, the Festival brings together schools from Greece, Cyprus and the Diaspora through the art of audio storytelling.
Among 34 radio theatre productions submitted from Greece, Cyprus and the Diaspora, the students of the Greek Language & Culture Schools of the Greek Community of Melbourne achieved significant Distinctions and Commendations at the Festival.
