Looking for Drum Lessons | Percussion Lessons | Artist development, Ensemble Coaching, Theory Lessons, Jazz Improvisation Lessons, VCE Music Exam Preparation, Skype Lessons in Werribee VIC, Australia?

Get in touch with Taylor Douglas

https://melbourne-musicteachers.com/taylor-douglas/

Bio

Taylor Douglas is a skilled musician, performer and educator and has spent most of his life devoted to the pursuit of musical excellence.

Hailing from Melbourne Australia, Taylor has flourished providing a solid backbone through drums and percussion to some of the thriving Melbourne music scenes best original and cover acts, including with (but by no means limited to): The Soulenikoes, Flynn Effect/Binary Pulse, Johnny Uppercut, Brooklyn’s Finest, House Too Crowded, Uptown Funk and Caution:Thieves. His adept composition and performance in these bands drew the attention of others, and he soon found himself clocking on as backline for renowned acts such as Emily Williams, Tash Anderson, Elle Skies, Catholic Guilt and the D2 Drumline, which saw him perform on a national televised stage at the Cricket World Cup at the MCG, and as part of the NRL Finals at AAMI Park.

Also an accomplished and accredited instructional teacher, Taylor has over 15 years teaching experience all across Melbourne and Geelong. Priding himself on building connections, patience and enthusiasm for his discipline, Taylor’s teaching efforts have been rewarded with great rapport with his past and present students, and has seen him coach some all the way to selection for Top Class for High Performance in VCE Music performance (solo) and VCE music performance (group). Taylor’s extensive credentials include a Bachelor of Music (Monash University) and a Graduate Diploma in Music Education from ACU. He has studied under several proficient teachers and drummers including Graham Morgan, Tony Floyd, Dave Beck, Danny Farrugia, Gerry Pantazis, Andy Gander & Gordon Rytmeister. In further pursuit of his passion, Taylor travelled to the USA & Cuba to study with America’s own titans of drumming, Dave Elitch (The Mars Volta), Daniel Glass (The Royal Crown Review), Steve Hass (Patti Austin), Tommy Igoe (Birdland Big Band), Stanton Moore (Galactic), Rodney Barreto (Chucho Valdez), Ari Hoenig (Punk Bop; Ari Hoenig Trio) and David Garibaldi (Tower of Power).

Few players have the deft ability to take you through a dynamic journey through percussion alone, but Taylor is one such artist. From a laid back swing groove through to the chaotic yet rhythmic tumble of an erratic washing machine meeting a thunderstorm, he can run the gauntlet from quietly menacing through to an open assault – and all while looking like a kid on Christmas day opening the shiny new red bike. It is obvious to all who have seen him play that Taylor’s home is behind his kit. When not at his drum stool, Taylor can probably be found on the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu mats or sharing his home with his beautiful family; his lovely wife Lauren, his sons Eddie and Harry as well as 35 odd snare drums.

Looking for Guitar Lessons | Electric Bass Lessons | Artist development, Song Writing Workshops, Theory Lessons, Composition Lessons, Mixing and Mastering Lessons, Skype Lessons in Latham Street, Werribee VIC, Australia?

Get in touch with Restart Guitar Academy

https://melbourne-musicteachers.com/restart-guitar-academy/

Bio

Hi, I’m Nick J Harvey a guitarist, songwriter and teacher with over 25 years of experience performing, recording and working in the studio.

I offer guitar and bass lessons in Werribee and online, working mainly with adult beginners and returning players who want a clear and structured way to improve.

My lessons are built around what I call the triangle of musicianship: rhythm, melody and harmony. By developing these three areas together, you build not just technique, but the confidence and understanding to actually play music, not just copy it.

Over the years, I’ve refined a teaching approach that blends traditional foundations with modern, practical methods. The focus is on making lessons engaging, easy to follow, and relevant to what you want to play.

Alongside teaching, I work as a recording artist and producer in my own studio. This means I bring real-world insight into tone, arrangement and recording into each lesson, helping you develop a more complete and musical approach to playing.

Whether you’re starting from scratch, getting back into guitar after a break, or looking to improve your feel and confidence, I can help you move forward with a clear plan and real progress.

Teaching Info

My lessons are specially designed for adult beginners and adult restarting music. The core of my teaching is built upon Triangle of Musicianship: rhythm, melody, and harmony.

When you strengthen these three pillars, everything gets easier: timing locks in, the fretboard makes sense, chords feel more natural, and your playing starts to sound musical, not mechanical.

That’s when songs, improvisation, and writing your own parts stop feeling confusing and start feeling fun , because you finally understand how the pieces fit together, step by step.

As a tutor, I focus on:
Building strong fundamentals from rhythm, timing, and fretboard knowledge to picking techniques.
Developing your own sound, helping students explore tone, expression, and improvisation.
Playing with confidence whether you’re jamming with friends, recording at home, or hitting the stage.
Tailored learning: lessons are shaped around your goals, whether that’s learning your favorite songs, diving into theory, or writing original music.
Home Studio Recording/Tech/Studio Craft
Whether you want to master the basics, explore improvisation, or refine your own style, I’ll create lessons tailored to your goals. Music should be fun, inspiring, and something you connect with deeply every time you play.

& Career Consulting

Background:
Laura Ellen (Hutchins) is a vocalist, professional performer and songwriter with a Bachelor Degree in Music (Contemporary Performance) from The Australian Institute of Music, Associate Degree in Performance from The Conservatorium of Music (TAS). She is passionate about developing her skills as a musician and paying that forward to the next generation of songwriters and musicians. Alongside her pursuits as an artist she has a built a thriving music coaching business that has been operating in Melbourne’s Bayside area for 8 years.

Laura provides one-on-one songwriting tutoring, classical and contemporary piano lessons for age 5+ , contemporary vocal lessons for age 8+ as well as theory and aural tutoring for all ages. Laura also provides consulting on career development for songwriters at the beginning-intermediate stages of their career.

Laura has been classically trained in piano since she was 5 years old, and at the age of 12 also began to incorporate a more contemporary approach to her playing, focusing around accompaniment, chord progressions & structure, jazz theory and aural skills. At the age of 15 she began vocal training, and then went on to major in contemporary singing at University.

Teaching Info

Laura has explored many styles and teaching methods and will always continue to develop herself as a teacher and musician. She believes her personal experience in music has lead to her philosophy on how she teaches – no student should be shown how to do something, rather they should be given all of the tools they need to be able to construct the ‘how’ for themselves. This helps them develop initiative, responsibility and independence as a musician and also develops their confidence in their own musical abilities.

Laura adapts her lessons based on how her students best learn; auditory, visual or kinaesthetic and to what their natural strengths are whilst finding fun ways to address the areas that the students find more challenging. Whilst Laura does not teach one method specifically, she understands a more classical/note-reading approach to learning, as well as the Suzuki method, and likes to help players and singers become well rounded musician’s who can enjoy and love what they play, not just a robot who has learnt to read notes and can only play mechanically.
