Building, Creating & a Little Touch of Dinosaurs 🦕🧱

And, of course, we added a little touch of dinosaurs! 🦖 The dinosaurs became part of their creations, inspiring imaginative play and storytelling as the children incorporated them into their block constructions.

It was wonderful to see the children sharing ideas, experimenting with different possibilities and creating their own unique play experiences.

A meaningful connection begins with feeling seen, heard, valued and safe. In our Family Day Care environment, I nurture genuine relationships with each child by being present, responsive and emotionally available.

Family day care offers a smaller, more home-like setting, individual attention, and flexible hours compared to long day care. Key benefits include smaller group sizes, mixed-age peer interaction, and stronger personal bonds with a single educator.

Environment and Care
* Home-like setting: Feels cozy and less overwhelming than a busy commercial center.

* Consistent educator: Children build deep, trusting bonds with one main person over time.

* Fewer germs: Smaller group numbers often mean fewer common colds and infections.

Learning and Groups
* Mixed-age groups: Siblings can stay together, and younger children learn from older peers.

* Tailored attention: Activities match each child's personal interests and pace.

* Flexible hours: Easier to find care outside standard 9-to-5 schedules, like early mornings or late evenings.

In FDC, your child stays with the same educator throughout the day. This consistency allows them to form a close, trusting bond with one caregiver. It’s like having a second home where they feel safe, cared for, and understood.

Children are settled, engaged, and confidently exploring their environment through independent play. Being present in the same room as children while they begin their play provides a strong sense of security and emotional safety. When children know their educator is nearby, they feel reassured and are free to explore, investigate, and make choices without needing to constantly seek reassurance. This secure base supports children’s confidence, independence, and wellbeing, allowing them to fully engage in meaningful play and learning experiences while knowing support is readily available whenever they need it.

Today, the children engaged in meaningful experiences with books, exploring both independent and shared reading. Whether reading alone or alongside a loved one, the children demonstrated that reading always holds value and connection. The addition of sound in books created an even more engaging and interactive experience, capturing their attention and curiosity.

As the children explored the books, they confidently turned pages, closely observing pictures and symbols. Some children began to create their own stories, using their imagination to add words, sounds, and gentle mumbling as they “read.” This showed a strong sense of confidence and creativity, as they were not afraid to express themselves freely.

Through these experiences, the children extended their imagination and developed early communication skills. They experimented with language, storytelling, and self-expression, demonstrating an emerging understanding of literacy.

Intentional Teaching / Reflection:
Educators will continue to provide a variety of engaging books, including those with sound, to support children’s interest in literacy. We will encourage storytelling, language development, and shared reading experiences to further strengthen communication skills and imagination.
