Au revoir 2022 ❤️❤️

As a new mom performing on stage, this year was challenging.

However, the most exciting part as an artist was that I reimagined, reinterpreted and rechoreographed - a piece from my Guru’s repertoire - Chand - with my new mom perspective. 😉

It was a challenge but worth it. ❤️❤️

I was confused to decide a piece for Melbourne Kathak Festival held in Oct 2022. As a new mom going through a different phase of life, I felt it was necessary to express my own emotions. Emotions that were felt in my own emotive body and were hard to express otherwise. But, I am thankful to my constant cheerleader my husband to hear me out and help me understand those emotions. ☺️❤️

And it felt right for this platform. As Melbourne Kathak Festival is all about generational storytelling. This festival aims to pass traditional knowledge to the future generations so that the stories of the past have a place in our future. A platform where reimagination is encouraged. 😍

Also, it was a little surprise for my guru as well. I just told Shovana Didi a few weeks back about what I did and she was very happy. ☺️🙏
