At Cockatoo Kindergarten, our 4-year-old program focuses strongly on building school readiness skills through meaningful, hands-on experiences and real-life learning opportunities. ✨

As part of our transition program, children participate in ‘Kindy at School’ days with our local school, Cockatoo Primary School, where they explore important school routines and environments in a supportive and exciting way.

Children have opportunities to:
📚 Build literacy and numeracy confidence
🕘 Practise routines and independence skills
🤝 Engage with older children and ‘Buddies’
🛝 Learn about playground safety and school expectations
🚻 Become familiar with school facilities and environments

While some children continue on to Cockatoo Primary School, many of our kinder children attend a variety of other local schools. Our transition program is designed to support ALL children to feel confident, capable, and school ready — no matter which school they attend. 💚

We are proud to offer a nurturing, play-based kindergarten program that helps children develop the social, emotional, and practical skills needed for a positive start to school and lifelong learning. 🌱

Our 4-year-old group recently celebrated a beautiful Mother’s Day evening at Cockatoo Kindergarten.

Over the past few weeks, the children prepared heartfelt cards and gifts, helped make tomato sauce from produce grown in our kinder garden, and worked together to prepare a special lasagna dinner to share with their mums. 🍅✨

Through experiences like this, children learn so many important life skills including empathy, teamwork, science, gardening, hygiene, healthy eating, gratitude, and the joy of giving to others.

Thank you to our wonderful community for your generous fundraising efforts for our kinder.

Your support has allowed our children to enjoy so many special extras, including exciting incursions such as Cranky Christmas Drama Toolbox and Animals of Oz.

We have also been able to offer enriching excursions to the Aquarium and our Emerald Community Day, creating memorable learning experiences beyond the kinder setting.

In addition, your fundraising has helped us purchase new resources, toys and stationery, as well as fully kitted costumes for our Christmas play, “Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney.”

We are so thankful for our wonderful community and the continued support you show our kinder and children. ❤️

🌻Today we met up with Cockatoo Childcare Kindergarten for a fun-filled play session at the park! There was plenty of laughter and excitement as the children enjoyed kicking balls, playing on the equipment, and joining in the parachute games.

It was a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, support the children’s transition to school, and spend time together out in our community.

Cockatoo Kindergarten is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Casual Educator with 2 part time positions open for 2026 to join our wonderful team!

Nestled among the gums and surrounded by native wildlife, Cockatoo Kindergarten is a friendly, parent-run service committed to providing a safe, caring, and positive environment for all. We take pride in our beautiful natural setting and well-resourced facilities that support children’s learning and development through play, exploration, and connection with nature.

We offer both 3-year-old and 4-year-old kindergarten programs and are looking for a new superstar to work across both groups on a casual basis in Term 4, with the potential for part-time hours in 2026.

As a valued member of our team, you will:

• Work collaboratively with experienced educators to deliver engaging, play-based programs.

• Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

• Assist with daily routines, group times, and learning experiences that foster belonging and growth.

• Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Holds (or is working towards) a Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

• Has a genuine passion for supporting young children’s learning and well-being.

• Is kind, nurturing, and brings a positive, bubbly energy to our team.

• Holds a current Working With Children Check (or is willing to obtain one).

• Can provide two professional references prior to employment.

As part of your induction, you’ll receive a comprehensive introduction to our operational policies, team expectations, and training that reflects our Commitment to Child Safety.

Last night our amazing team enjoyed a wellbeing evening — bonding and relaxing through yoga and guided painting. 🌿🎨

A big thank you to Amber from Sole Frequency and Jess Measer for creating such a calm, inspiring space for us. It was a beautiful opportunity for our educators to unwind, connect, and celebrate each other. 💛

Along the way, we also learnt mindfulness practices, creative techniques, and positive communication strategies for building self-esteem — skills that will help us support children in their wellbeing journey every day.

We’re so grateful for the incredible team who pour their hearts into everything they do!
