Our philosophy should reflect the people, values, and connections that make our centre special. Our community can share their thoughts through our foyer display using sticky notes, QR reflections, or a simple chat with our team.

Goodstart are continuing to prioritise the right things when it comes to child safety, with the introduction of Protective Strategies professional learning and support for centres. Recently, Educational Leaders were invited to engage in this learning, exploring ways we can further strengthen children’s understanding of safety, voice, and advocacy within our everyday practice.

At Moonee Ponds, this has led to rich conversations in all age groups around safe and unsafe choices, with children sharing their thinking through illustrations, discussions, and recorded voice.

This work aligns with the Child Safe Standards, while also supporting ongoing reflection as Educational Leaders about how we embed child safety in meaningful and empowering ways across our program and environment.

We invite our families and visitors to view our display, and also welcome community insight and contributions as we continue to grow and strengthen our shared understanding of child safety together.

Moonee Ponds are proud to be partnering with Lachlan, Goodstart’s Speech Pathologist, as part of a valuable and targeted opportunity to strengthen our approach to children’s communication and language development.


Over the coming months, Lachlan is working closely alongside our team, championing them to build in-depth knowledge and confidence in planning intentionally for children’s speech and language development.


This visit marked the second touchpoint of the initiative, where our team engaged in rich professional learning.
We unpacked speech and language development and built a shared understanding of how to best support every child in communcating to connect and thrive.


The session sparked thoughtful, open-ended and group discussions, with educators engaging in meaningful critical reflection on everyday practices and how these can be strengthened.

This partnership strengthens our ability to give back to our community and deepens how we work alongside families to support children’s communication over time.
