Moonee Ponds is sending lots of love to our wonderful community of fathers this Sunday - some of whom came together today for a special afternoon tea.

We hope that your day is filled with yummy food, good company, plenty of laughter and, most importantly, lots of hugs!

Thank you for all the love, support and special moments you share with your little ones.
We hope that you feel celebrated and appreciated this Father’s Day!

We all have that wall - the awkward one that’s hard to fill or a blank area we’re not quite sure what to do with.

So, instead of simply filling the space, our Educational Leader Cass, Toddler Senior Kris and educator Kim put their heads together and thought outside the box!

Inspired by the children’s interest in trains and lift-the-flap books, the team created our Railway Wall using sustainable, repurposed materials and resources we already had available.

And, it’s not just about trains!
As children pull, open and close, push and manipulate the pieces, they are strengthening their:
- fine motor skills
- hand strength and wrist movement - and, coordination
while also developing problem-solving, spatial awareness, language and collaboration skills.

For our families, it’s a glimpse into how intentional our environments can be.

Today at Moonee Ponds, we celebrated our educators - a team who have embraced change, pushed boundaries, supported one another through challenges, and continue to walk through the doors each morning with a smile.

But today, we also celebrated something really special: the words of our families 💗

Over thirty incredible messages, memories and words of appreciation were shared with our team. These are just a few we wanted to highlight of the community we’ve nurtured,

📚 Storytime with... 📚

We spoke to our very lovely toddler educator, Kim, who was so excited to jump on board with our "Storytime with" series and share some key alphabet focused words in Vietnamese!

Kim highlighted the importance of supporting children’s dual language development, particularly for our infants and toddlers.

Continuing to use your home language alongside English - such as singing songs, naming familiar objects, reading books and talking together - helps to support language development, building connection and strength in identity!

We love celebrating the many languages spoken within our diverse Goodstart Moonee Ponds community and recognising the important role families play in children’s language and literacy journeys...

We’re so proud of our N2 team for thinking outside the box and creating their very own puppet theatre to support children’s engagement in literacy, storytelling and imaginative play!

And the best part? It’s that easy!

We spoke to Liz, Anna and Sh*tal about what they used to create this and they have shared:
📦 A sturdy cardboard box
🧵 Some material - our team repurposed an old smock!
🎨 Some colours to decorate
🦆 A few puppets or characters

And suddenly, you have your very own puppet theatre ready for storytelling!

The children have been bringing "Five Little Ducks" to life through puppetry, singing and shared storytelling. 🐥🎶

We love seeing our educators get creative with what we already have to create meaningful, engaging learning experiences for children. ❤️

Sometimes the simplest ideas create the biggest opportunities for learning! ✨

What a wonderful Book Week we’ve had at Goodstart Moonee Ponds!

We are so incredibly proud of our amazing team for joining in the fun, embracing the magic of books and language.

A huge thank you to our amazing families for celebrating with us and putting so much thought, creativity and love into your costume creations. We loved seeing each child’s individuality and imagination shine!

This week has reminded us that Book Week should be celebrated above and beyond just one week of the year - fostering a love of books, stories and imagination every day 💛

We’d love to hear which costume ideas you loved most or might take inspiration from for next year!

📚Storytime with... 📚

Tonight, we're shining a little spotlight on Storytime with Liz and her love of making storytime fun, interactive and engaging for children.

Liz is especially passionate about sharing books through puppets, repetition and playful participation.
Children can join in with familiar words, anticipate what’s coming next, follow the rhythm and become part of the story rather than simply listening to it.

And, of course, Where Is the Green Sheep? is one of Liz’s favourites! 🐑💚

Remember that storytime is so much more than simply reading the words on the page - it’s about using our voice, expression and interactions to bring the story to life and create a love of books from the very beginning.

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.
