✨ Exploring, Creating & Discovering ✨

Our Nursery children have been busy exploring a variety of colours, textures and materials through open-ended sensory play.

Using feathers, shiny fabrics, textured ribbons and colourful shapes, the children investigated how different materials look and feel while developing their curiosity, creativity and fine motor skills. Through experiences like this, children are encouraged to make choices, explore their senses and engage in meaningful learning through play.

At Discovery, we know that some of the most valuable learning happens when children are given the freedom to explore, create and discover at their own pace.

❄️☕ Grab & Go Winter Morning Tea ☕❄️

This morning we treated our families to a special Grab & Go Morning Tea to help warm up these chilly winter days.

Our team baked fresh homemade scones, ready for families to enjoy on their way into the day. It was a small way for us to say thank you for being such an important part of our centre community.

We loved seeing everyone stop by for a warm winter treat and hope the scones brought a little extra comfort to your morning! 💙

🌱❄️ Last week, with the support and guidance of our wonderful nutritionist, we spent time preparing our garden for winter!

The children enjoyed getting their hands dirty as they helped tidy the garden beds, prepare the soil, and learn about the different fruits, vegetables, and herbs that can grow during the cooler months. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore where food comes from, develop an appreciation for healthy eating, and connect with nature.

A big thank you to our nutritionist for sharing her knowledge and helping us create a space where children can continue to learn, grow, and explore throughout the seasons. We can’t wait to see our winter garden flourish! 🌿🥕🧤

This week we had a very exciting visit from The Recycle Man! ♻️

The children were captivated as they learned all about recycling, sorting waste correctly, and why it’s so important to care for our environment. Through fun, hands-on activities and engaging discussions, they discovered how everyday items can be reused and repurposed instead of ending up in landfill.

There were lots of “wow” moments as the Recycle Man showed us what goes in each bin and how small actions can make a big difference to our planet. The children were eager to share their own ideas about recycling at home and in our centre.

This incursion beautifully supported our sustainability learning, encouraging responsibility, curiosity, and care for the world around us. 🌏💚

🌉 STEM Project in K4 🌉

Our Kindergarten 4 children have been busy engaging in their STEM project, and this week they became young engineers as they designed and created their own bridges!

Using a variety of materials, the children explored problem-solving, critical thinking and creativity while investigating how bridges are built and what makes them strong and stable. Throughout the project, the children worked collaboratively, shared ideas and tested their creations through hands-on learning experiences.

Projects like this encourage children to think creatively, take risks and develop important early STEM skills in a meaningful and engaging way. 💡✨

We can’t wait to continue learning through this STEM project.

✨ Consistent Routines Build Confident Learners ✨

At our service, we place a strong focus on consistent daily routines to help children feel safe, secure, and confident in their environment.

During lunchtime, our children are supported through a familiar routine that encourages independence and responsibility. As you can see in the photos, the children are actively involved in serving their own lunch, making choices about their food, and developing important self-help skills.

These everyday moments are so much more than just mealtime – they are valuable learning opportunities. By encouraging children to take part in their own care routines, we are supporting their growing independence, fine motor skills, confidence, and sense of belonging within the group.

We are so proud to see the children embracing these routines with such enthusiasm and pride. 💛

📚 Simultaneous Storytime 2026 📚

We were so excited to once again participate in National Simultaneous Storytime this year!

Our children loved joining thousands of children and educators across Australia to share the same story at the same time, celebrating the joy of reading, language and imagination together.

Experiences like this help foster early literacy skills, a love of books and meaningful connections through storytelling. It’s always such a special event on our calendar, and we absolutely love being part of it each year. 💛✨

There’s nothing quite like watching children become immersed in the magic of a story.

🌏 Exploring Language Through Our ELLA Program 🌏

Our Kindergarten children have been enthusiastically engaging in the ELLA Program (Early Learning Languages Australia), exploring new languages and cultures through fun, interactive learning experiences.

Through songs, games, stories and digital learning, the children are developing confidence, communication skills and an appreciation for diversity in an engaging and meaningful way.

Programs like ELLA help foster curiosity, cultural awareness and a love of learning from an early age, all while having lots of fun along the way!
