The bushland yoga cards have just arrived, and the children were eager to explore them during yoga experiences. They used the cards to try different poses, moving their bodies with focus, balance and control while following visual prompts and joining in with growing confidence.
Through these experiences, the children are building physical wellbeing as they strengthen coordination, body awareness and self-regulation. The bushland yoga cards also support emotional and psychological wellbeing, giving the children calm moments to pause, breathe and manage their feelings in a gentle and meaningful way.
This extension also supports a cultural and spiritual connection as the children engage with resources created by S.N.A.I.C.C. In these moments, the children are developing a sense of identity, belonging and respect while continuing to grow in confidence, wellbeing and connection through movement.

🌱 Seasonal learning in action
We’ve been caring for our feijoa tree, harvesting the fruit, exploring new tastes, and even baking a fresh feijoa loaf together. This morning we collected another full box and shared it with playgroup — such a lovely way to connect with our community.
If you’re looking for a warm, hands‑on family day care environment, feel free to get in touch.

The children have been gathering feijoas from the tree they have been caring for. They carefully collected the fruit, explored the inside by cutting some open, and tasted them together. This supported their confidence to try new foods, use their senses, and take part in hands-on learning.
The children then used the feijoas to make a feijoa loaf. They were involved in preparing the fruit and taking part in each step of the cooking process. This encouraged early mathematical thinking, fine motor skills, and growing independence as they worked together with purpose.
This morning, the children collected more fruit and filled a box to take to playgroup to share with the wider community. This was a meaningful way for them to experience generosity, belonging, and contributing to others through something they had cared for and harvested themselves.

Today the children designed their own Zen gardens using bamboo, stones and other natural materials. Each child arranged the pieces with care, making their own choices about placement, pattern and design.
Through this hands‑on experience, the children explored imagination and creativity while strengthening fine‑motor skills. They used problem‑solving as they adjusted materials, tested ideas and made changes to achieve the effect they wanted, showing confidence and persistence in their learning.
This experience also introduced the children to elements of another culture in a calm and respectful way. Their focused engagement showed curiosity, concentration and meaningful participation in play.

Cooling off today with a simple chocolate ice‑cream making experience.
Children explored textures, measured ingredients, mixed the base, and watched the changes as it churned — lots of science thinking, fine‑motor practice, language, and turn‑taking woven through the fun.
Sharing only the process (no children’s photos), but plenty of learning and joy behind the scenes.
