Today our centre completed an offsite evacuation drill. We all worked together to ensure we all exited the centre safety and we took all the correct supplies.
Once we arrived at the location we completed another head count to ensure all staff and children were with us and were safe. We then headed back to the centre and completed another head count to make sure we were all accounted for.
As a service we ensure we practise all different types of evacuation drills and inform the families that we are taking part in this so they know where their children are at all times.

National Reconciliation Week 💛❤️🖤
National Reconciliation Week is an important time for children to learn about and celebrate the histories, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In early childhood settings, children can explore reconciliation through stories, music, art, yarning circles, and experiences that promote respect, inclusion, and understanding.
By engaging in age-appropriate activities, children develop a sense of belonging, appreciation for diversity, and respect for Australia’s First Nations peoples. Reconciliation Week helps build strong foundations for kindness, empathy, and meaningful relationships, encouraging children to value and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Some activities for young children include:
* Reading Indigenous stories and picture books.
* Creating artwork inspired by Aboriginal symbols and storytelling.
* Learning about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags.
* Listening to Indigenous music and dancing.
* Participating in an Acknowledgement of Country.
* Exploring native plants and their cultural significance.
These experiences support children’s understanding of respect, connection, and reconciliation in a meaningful and engaging way.
