The Data Dojo The Data Dojo started when a research assistant and an analyst met during a grappling session and realised they could help each other.

Will at the time was having issues understanding problems relating to statistics. They were problems that neither his work nor his education could have prepared him for. Paul, having completed his master’s in statistics, answered all of his questions. Will then later mentioned how he had spent hours and upon hours on the internet trying to find answers. The process was in-efficient. Will was an en

tering new hire, and like many that enter new industries, companies or projects, they quietly struggle during this time period. For those that do make it through this period, they often survive with an eclectic mix of technical knowledge. This mix, however, would be filled with holes that would eventually be plugged up by yet again hour long Google searches. Paul and Will learned that this was a toxic way of learning, and so the Data Dojo was initiated. The Data Dojo was built to train professionals to have the practical knowledge and skills for them to be competent and empowered in their work lives.
