“Let me persuade you….”
Has someone spoken or written something to convince you to make a choice or decision? They most likely used PERSUASIVE language.
Persuasive language is used for many reasons, for example, to help to sell products or services, or to convince people to accept a view or idea. Politicians often use persuasive techniques to get their audience to agree with their views on a particular topic.
Follow us at as we run through some of the popular persuasive techniques each day. ✍️📑🗣️🔈🤔

We use weekday names daily. Did you know these words are deeply tied to European history?
Here are some fun facts about Monday-Sunday in English!
📚Language History
English is such a complex language and it is still evolving, however, it descended from Ancient Greek, Latin and Germanic languages and these influences can all be seen all kinds of words, including the names of the days of the week.
🪐🔱Gods and Planets
The original days of the week were named after the (Roman and Greek) gods as well as the planets. People believed heavenly bodies and planets presided over the first daylight hours of each day, and the changing face of the nighttime sky.
🏛Why the number of 7 days?
Five planets plus the moon and sun made seven major astronomical bodies so it was natural to use these seven names when the seven-day week arrived.

C L A R I T Y-
⚡️ Move from old to new information smoothly. ⚡️
To write with more clarity, always move from OLD to NEW information
because the brain can process this easily 🧠.
✍️ This applies to any style of writing.
✍️ Most students agree they want their writing to flow.
✍️ Flowing writing must include sentence clarity and a logical sequencing of ideas.
✍️ Sequence information in a logical order so that readers understand it easily.
✍️ Rather than present new information abruptly, go from old to new information.
✍️ Introduce readers to the main idea of a paragraph first. When you give new information, link it to familiar information in earlier sentences.
For example:
The cast of “Friends”, a U.S TV sitcom, reunited in 2020 for a film “Friends Reunited”. In this film, (old) we see the six familiar stars as we have never seen them before, now married with children! (new). Two of the six characters have married (old) and also reveal a secret (new) that will leave Friend’s fans on the edge of their seats.
Try it today! Whatever you write today, state the old or “given” information first - things we are sure the reader knows - then move onto the new. ⚡️
