🚨 Employer groups are pushing to increase the filing fee for unfair dismissal claims from $80 to $500.
For many workers, losing a job already means immediate financial stress. Adding a $500 barrier could discourage genuine claims from employees who believe they were treated unfairly.
Access to workplace justice shouldn’t depend on the size of your bank account. A fair system ensures workers can challenge unfair treatment based on the merits of their case, not whether they can afford the filing fee.

Most people think career setbacks happen because of bad luck, difficult bosses, or the wrong opportunities.
Often, the bigger risk is unconsciousness.
Unconscious habits.
Unconscious biases.
Unconscious reactions.
Unconscious decisions.
When we’re unaware of the patterns driving our behaviour, we repeat them, again and again, while wondering why nothing changes.
Growth begins with awareness. The more conscious you become of your strengths, weaknesses, fears, and motivations, the more control you gain over your career, relationships, and future.
Self-awareness isn’t a soft skill. It’s a competitive advantage.

A leadership title might earn authority, but it doesn’t earn respect.
Great leaders are the people who:
• create psychological safety
• back their team publicly and coach privately
• listen before reacting
• own mistakes
• inspire growth, not fear
Anyone can manage people.
Not everyone can lead them well.
Your team will never remember your job title as much as they’ll remember how you made them feel at work.

Optus has been named Australia’s most distrusted brand in the latest Roy Morgan rankings, overtaking Woolworths and ranking ahead of Temu, Meta and Coles. The result reflects ongoing public concern following the company’s major data breach and nationwide network outage, which significantly damaged consumer confidence.
The findings highlight the long-term consequences of losing trust. While trust can take years to build, major incidents can erode it almost overnight. For businesses, the message is clear: transparency, accountability and consistently delivering on promises are critical to maintaining a strong reputation.

Adelaide University is reportedly facing financial pressure as international student numbers decline.
For years, Australian universities have relied heavily on international student fees to fund research, infrastructure and day-to-day operations. Now, tighter visa rules, migration reforms and changing global demand are exposing just how dependent the sector has become on overseas enrolments.
The question isn’t just about one university. It’s about whether Australia’s higher education system can remain sustainable if international student numbers continue to fall.
As universities adapt to a changing landscape, students, graduates and employers may all feel the impact.
What do you think? Should universities rely less on international student revenue?

HECS debts have officially increased by 2.8% today.
While it’s much lower than the 7.1% jump Australians saw in 2023, millions of graduates will still see their student debt grow overnight.
A $40,000 HECS balance? That’s an extra $1,120 added.
The increase is linked to annual indexation, which adjusts HELP debts to keep pace with inflation and wage growth.
For many Australians already juggling rising living costs, it’s another reminder that university debt can follow you long after graduation.
Do you think HECS indexation is fair? 👇
