Today at Bundoora Retirement Village our Grandfriends had prepared an activity for us. We made our own fishing game! The children designed, decorated, and cut out their fish, showing great confidence and growing scissor skills. With help from our Grandfriends, we added magnets and created fishing rods before enjoying a fun fishing game together. Best of all, the fish can be taken home and used as fridge magnets! π
We are soooo lucky to be able to continue building these amazing connections with our Grandfriends, through play and shared joy.

ππ₯ Firefighters to the Rescue! π₯π
Today our Nursery 2 children became little firefighters as they explored the important role emergency services play in our community. Through role play, the children learned about fire safety and have been introduced to the number 000.
Using a makeshift burning building and a cardboard box fire truck, the children worked together to respond to emergencies, and put out fires.
Learning through play provides meaningful opportunities for children to develop confidence, social skills, and awareness of the world around them while having fun.
Well done to our brave little firefighters! π©βππ¨βππ

ππΏΒ Tram Excursion - Bundoora Park! ππΏ
Travelling by tram gave children a real-world opportunity to learn about public transport, safety, and navigating their community. At the park, they explored the natural surroundings, observed plants and wildlife, and engaged in meaningful conversations about the environment.
The children also enjoyed the structured playground areas, where they developed their gross motor skills, balance, coordination, problem-solving abilities, and confidence through active play.
What a wonderful day of learning, exploration, and adventure beyond the classroom! π±β¨

π©βπ³Weekly Cooking Class Fun! π¨βπ³ππ₯
From Nursery through to Kinder, the children get busy exploring, creating, and learning in our weekly cooking class!
The children are actively involved in the process β smelling fresh ingredients, taste testing new flavours, measuring quantities, stirring mixtures, and working together to create delicious recipes. π±ππ₯£
Cooking experiences provide rich opportunities for learning across many developmental areas. Children develop early mathematical skills through measuring and counting, build language and communication skills as they discuss ingredients and processes, strengthen fine motor skills through stirring and pouring, and expand their sensory awareness through tasting, smelling, and exploring different textures.

π₯°π§Grandfriends Excursion π§π₯°
Our Kinder children had a wonderful visit with our Grandfriends at Bundoora Retirement Village today π
Through sensory play, shared stories, reading and meaningful conversations, our children continue building beautiful connections across generations. It was heartwarming to see the smiles, laughter and genuine engagement as everyone learned from one another.
These experiences support social and emotional development by building empathy, communication skills, confidence and a sense of belonging within the wider community.

π§π’ Maths is everywhereπ§π’
Today the children explored early mathematical concepts through water play using different sized tubes, pipettes and pouring tools. They experimented with volume, capacity, size comparison, counting drops, problem solving while building fine motor control.
Sensory experiences like these support early numeracy in meaningful, hands-on ways while encouraging communication, collaboration and scientific thinking.
