Much controversy surrounds the existence of the modern state of Saudi Arabia, with many claiming they are the primary cause of the saddened state of the Ummah today, while on the opposite spectrum, others claim they have re implemented a pure version of Islam as it was in the time of the Salaf.
In this two part presentation, we will separate fact from fiction to expose the reality of this entity which has been implanted in the heart of Islam for over a century.
In part 1, we look at the beginning of the Najdi rebellion during the time of the Uthmani khilafah state, examining the key players during this period, up until the formation of the state of Saudi Arabia in the early 1900s.
In part 2, a modern analysis of the House of Saud with their recent moves in the ME, and a look at the internal fractures within this family with the ascendence of the new crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Rohingyas and the paradox of human rights.
The inaction of the "international community" over the massacre of Rohingyas raises important questions about "human rights". Whose rights are they really? Do they actually belong to all human beings as purported by their proponents? Or does a "human rights" discourse merely conceal incompetent politics or serve ideological agendas?
Join us for a discussion where we interrogate the concept of "human rights" and uncover some of its paradoxes.

This Friday night 7.30pm!
Is Islam compatible with Science?
This question is often discussed on the dawah scene. There is a temptation in the da’wah field to attempt to use science to show Islam’s progressiveness, openness to “advancement” and inquiry. But is modern science ideologically neutral? And if it isn’t, is it something to be proud of if someone proved Islam to be true through science, or that Islam brought “science”, in the way it is meant today? Join us to examine this concept in more detail.
