Altona Life Saving Club

The Altona Life Saving Club is a non-profit organisation patrolling one of the most popular beaches. Established 1926.

The Altona Life Saving Club was established in 1927. We are grateful to all our supporters that have financially assisted the club. It is with their help that we continue to provide a safe beach for swimmers, an education program for all interested in learning more about surf safety, and a competitive program for the young and the young at heart. The club is located just east of the pier and patro

ls a Bathing and No Boating Zone, extending 200 m east of the pier. Altona Beach forms the southern boundary of the town of Altona, with the Esplanade paralleling the beach. The Altona Railway Station is located 500 m north of the beach, and the beach is crossed by the 500 m long Altona Pier. Most facilities are located near the pier and lifesaving club. There are also picnic areas in foreshore reserves at either end of the beach. More information can be obtained by visiting www.altonalsc.com.au

Last weekend our pool competition team hosted a fun afternoon to celebrate their incredible achievements throughout the season.

Congratulations to all our award recipients, and to all of our pool competitors. It was also a great afternoon to recognise our new State and National record holders 🏅

Thank you to all of our coaches for such an incredible season!

2026 LSV Awards of Excellence ✨🏆

Members from across our club attended the 2026 LSV Awards of Excellence recently.
It was a great night to reflect and celebrate the volunteer work being done across Life Saving Victoria.

Congratulations to Matthew, Stacey, Ashley, Heath, and Zane who were all shortlisted for awards on the night. Congratulations to Matthew for winning the Emerging Official of the Year!

Our club was also a Finalist for Club of the Year - Beaurepaire Shield

Our ALSC Junior Pool Team recently competed at the Life Saving Victoria Junior Pool State Championships and came away with some awesome personal achievements. Congratulations to all of our competitors

Altona placed 3rd overall for the competition 🏆

We saw 23 athletes compete on the day, and a total of 25 compete throughout the season.

A big thank you to our supporters, coaches, and officials. We continue to see amazing growth and commitment amongst our junior competitors.

A few highlights included

🥇 5 Gold
🥈 3 Silver
🥉 9 Bronze

A special mention that 3 NEW RECORDS were achieved on the day!

Altona Life Saving Club recently had the pleasure of hosting a delegation of youth representatives from the Hobsons Bay International Friendship Association.

Four students are currently visiting from Altona's sister city - Anjo, Japan, staying with local families and experiencing everything that makes Altona special. Naturally, a visit to ALSC was a must!

The group enjoyed learning about surf lifesaving and discovering the many roles our club plays in the community, from patrol services and Nippers to surf sports.

It was a fantastic opportunity to share this experience with them, and showcase everything that makes our club unique.

RLSSA Pool Lifesaving Championships 💛🤍🖤

Congratulations to the 5 Altona athletes who were selected to represent Victoria in the State and Development teams for the Australian Life Saving Championships in Perth last week!!

A New Australian Pool Life Saving Record was set by our very own Trudy Gielen !🚨
Congratulations to Trudy for breaking the national record for U14 Women 10m line throw ! 🏆

Being selected to represent your State is a significant achievement, and reflects the effort and focus these athletes have put into their training, as well as the support from their coach and families.

A special thank you to Kev and Melinda, and Stacey for stepping up into their roles as officials at the championships.

We recently held our 2025/26 Season Presentation Night!
What a fantastic night celebrating the achievements, dedication, and spirit of our club!
Congratulations to all award recipients and thank you to everyone who attended.
An extra thank you to those who helped put together the night.
It was wonderful to reflect on an incredible season, recognise the continuous contributions from our members, and celebrate together as one club 💛🖤🤍

Altona Life Saving Club held its Inaugural Patrol Games recently bringing together five teams for a day full of energy and friendly competition.
Members took part in running and swimming events, CPR challenges, and a spirited tug-of-war, all rounded off with a big barbecue and plenty of bragging rights for the winning team!!
