National Family Day Care Week 2026 runs from May 4-10, celebrating the "Every Child is a Star" theme to highlight the unique, nurturing home environments of Family Day Care (FDC). Our children are like stars, each shining with a unique brilliance that lights up our world. To celebrate National family day care week, everyone made a star trophy this week.
We love using sustainable materials as always. Children selected a piece of wooden block, two yoghurt pouch lids and two foam stars for creating a unique star trophy.
"Every child is a star" is also our philosophy, I believe each child has unique talents, interests, and learning styles, deserving of a nurturing environment to shine.

Harmony week is from Monday, 16 to Sunday, 22 March 2026. It’s time to celebrate Australia's amazing cultural diversity. During this week, we celebrate inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all Australians, from the traditional custodians of the land to those who have come from many countries around the world.
During our group learning time, we had a fantastic activity for celebrating Harmony Week. We looked up family origins on a globe, created this Harmony tree with our handprints to celebrate the cultural diversity in our big family, and delivered the core message of "Everyone Belongs".
Cultural Diversity: Roughly half of all Australians were born overseas or have a parent who was, representing over 300 different ancestries. Mapping these origins highlights the rich cultural tapestry of the community.
Many Australians have family stories that begin in other parts of the world. Looking up flags and locating them on a globe helps our children understand that over 300 ancestries make up modern Australia.
With the motto 'Everyone belongs', Harmony Week encourages us to appreciate our differences and similarities, promote inclusiveness, and show mutual respect for everyone, regardless of race, colour, religion, or background.
Let's come together to celebrate Harmony Week 2026 and continue building a nation where everyone truly belongs.

It’s our lunch time… Yummy and fun!
Improvised our yummy food song for everyone.
Yummy food in my tummy
Yum yum yum yum yum (make circles on our tummy)
Yummy rice in Aaron’s tummy…
(Melody: Old McDonald has a farm)
Wow! Children love this song and finished all their lunch!

Happy world children‘s day! World Children's Day is on the 20 November 2025. This year is the 36th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child - a special moment where governments around the world (including Australia) agreed on 54 different rights that every child under 18 years old should have to live a safe, healthy and happy life.
On this World Children's Day, we've chosen to celebrate every child's right to play and calling communities, schools, workplaces and leaders protect and promote this right for every child.
Play is how children learn, grow, connect and heal.
Every child has the right to play - no matter who they are or where they live.
To celebrate children’s day, we make "I'm a star" trophy in our group learning time this week. A trophy to recognize our children, boost their self-esteem and motivate them to keep learning and try their best.
We know every child is unique and everyone can shine like a star when they learn and play in a supported and caring environment.

Falling tree branches from the big tree on our nature strip presented a safety hazard after strong winds, particularly to our young children who love playing in the front yard. Therefore, I always kept the children away from the area during and immediately after strong winds. However, for safety reasons, we contacted council about our concerns. Thank you Whitehorse City Council sent us a team to inspect and trim the hazardous branches. Now our children can play happily at outdoors.
