This afternoon we focused on creating backgrounds. We discussed different backgrounds and practiced some ideas in our diaries. There were lots of different ideas to share. We had some different beach scenes including under the sea, a night sky and some experimenting with colour, blending and texture.

🎨🖌️Thursday Art 🎨🖌️

On Thursday we started our new project.. the students were given a brief on the project. We talked about needing to create a background that is colourful. The discussion went from gardens, to lizards and oceans. The group agreed that an ocean background would be what they would like to create. We spoke about the different sea creatures from, sharks and stingrays to rainbow octopus. I was surprised at how knowledgeable the students were about sea creatures.

🦜Monday Art 🌅

Monday Art was very busy today with lots of different projects at lots of different stages!
We began sketching and painting a background for our new project and had lots of interesting ideas including some beach scenes, some garden scenes, cherry blossoms and some students enjoyed experimenting with colour and pattern.
We also worked on our bird in a cage project with some outlining to add details and Japanese writing for the names of our birds.

🦜Thursday Art 🦜🎨🖌️

Today the Thursday group started by looking at birds and how to draw them. We practiced on a separate sheet of paper following explicit instructions. We did flying birds as well as stationary ones sitting on a perch. Once we completed these we commenced working on our good copy. All students were completely engaged in task. 🤩🦜

🦜Monday Art🦜

On Monday afternoon we started a new project of a mixed media bird in an antique cage. We sketched our birds and the surrounding cage and added some extra details including butterflies, trees and flowers. We painted using watercolour adding colours to our birds and backgrounds.

🐡Thursday Art 🐡🎨🖌️

On Thursday we welcomed some new friends to our session. We spent the session exploring images of puffer fish and noticed that their spikes appeared when they feel threatened and in a calm state they look small and almost gentle. We layered acrylic paint on top of the water colour background. Once we finished adding our acrylic paint we used sharpies to produce the spikes on our puffer fish. They look fabulous!

Yesterday afternoon we completed our mixed media puffer fish artwork. We added details such as eyes, mouth, spines, dots, seaweed and coral. We used sharpies, acrylic paints and watercolour paints. Our young artists have done an amazing job!

🐡 Monday Art 🐡

Today we welcomed some new friends to our Monday group. 😊😊
We began working on a mixed media puffer fish piece. 🐡🐡
First we used watercolour paints to create a sea background with blues, greens and purples.
When this was dry we used acrylic paints and mixed our own colours from red, blue, yellow and white.
We then used bubble wrap to dip in the paint. This gave some texture and pattern and we made a big puffer fish shape on our backgrounds. We will begin adding details next week!
