📚🐛 Book Week Celebration 🐛📚

Yesterday our Educational Leader Shima and Assistant Director Madhura read The Very Hungry Caterpillar book in Marathi.

Sharing stories in home languages helps children develop a sense of belonging, supports language development, and fosters an appreciation for diverse cultures.

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

🐞🕷️ Incursions at Goodstart Ferntree Gully! 🦋

Our children had a wonderful time during the Insects and Mini Beasts Incursion, exploring fascinating creatures such as stick insects, spiders, cockroaches, and scorpions. They learned about the important role these animals play in our environment and how we can care for living things.

The children enjoyed engaging with the creatures in their own way, building curiosity, confidence, and respect for nature. 🐛🌱

🔬✨ National Science Week at Goodstart Ferntree Gully! ✨🔬

Our little scientists have been busy exploring, experimenting and discovering! From Magic Milk colour mixing and vinegar and bicarbonate balloon experiment to sink and float investigations, volcano eruptions, ice melting activities, and observing celery absorb coloured water, the children have enjoyed many hands-on learning experiences. 🌈🧪🌱💧

These exciting activities encouraged curiosity, prediction, observation and plenty of “I wonder…” moments as children explored the amazing world of science. 💡❤️

This year we are Hosting a Wear It Yellow casual clothes day with a gold coin donation from 27th May to 3rd June 2026 to raise funds for the children's ground organisation to support First Nations kids and families to access to education and wellbeing on their Country, but also an opportunity for our education organisation to practice truthtelling with our students and staff, and build their understanding of First Nations culture, strength and our shared histories.
