π₯οΈ Did You Know?
The smooth, glossy finish you see on many fibreglass boats isn't the final stepβit's actually where the build begins.
In marine craft construction, gelcoat is applied inside the mould first, followed by layers of fibreglass and resin. Once cured and removed from the mould, these layers create a lightweight, strong, and durable boat hull that's built to perform on the water.
At the Australian Institute of Engineering (AIE), our students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard materials and techniques, developing practical skills that prepare them for careers in the marine industry.
