Reaching a 50-year milestone is an extraordinary achievement, and it’s what makes our annual 50-Year reunion so meaningful. We were delighted to welcome back the 1974 Wyvern cohort, 50 years after they first walked through the archway into the Quad.
This year's lunch featured special guest Ian Robertson AO (Wyvern 1974), one of Australia's leading lawyers in Entertainment, Defamation, and Media Law. His insightful talk, Can Public Interest Journalism Survive?, sparked engaging discussions and made the day even more memorable.

The MCR dinner was a wonderful evening celebrating those who have been part of Queen’s during their postgraduate studies. As many prepare to move on to new opportunities, the evening was a chance to look back on their achievements, friendships, and time in the College community.
We wish them all the best as they take the next steps in their journey and look forward to seeing what they achieve in the future.

Thank you to all who came to our annual Wyvern drinks in the Quad. It was a beautiful spring evening to celebrate our 2024 Wyvern of the Year, Andrew Hudson, and to catch up with old and new friends across the decades - including the cohort from 2014 and 2004 who celebrated their 10 and 20 year reunion!

Announcing the 2024 Wyvern of the Year: Andrew Hudson!
For three decades, Andrew (Wyvern 1996) has fought injustice and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people worldwide. As Australia’s first Youth Representative to the UN, and later through leadership roles at Human Rights First and Crisis Action, he has tackled some of the world’s toughest challenges—helping protect civilians in conflict zones like Syria, Yemen, and South Sudan, supporting Rohingya refugees fleeing genocide, and advocating for survivors of war crimes in Congo.
His work with Crisis Action even led to life-saving interventions, such as convincing the UN to send peacekeepers to the Central African Republic and securing aid routes to millions of starving Syrians.
Now, as CEO of the Centre for Policy Development, Andrew focuses on building a fairer Australia by promoting key reforms in areas like social services and sustainable energy. His passion for collaboration and ‘unreasonable optimism’ continues to drive meaningful change for disadvantaged communities.
We are proud to honour Andrew for his extraordinary impact and lifelong commitment to making the world a better place.

Our annual Third Year Dinner celebrates students who have called Queen’s home for three or more years—most of whom are preparing to move on to new adventures. It’s a bittersweet evening filled with reflection, laughter, and gratitude as we honour the friendships and experiences they’ve gathered along the way.
A special highlight of the night is welcoming back the O-Week leaders from their first year, who return to join us for this memorable occasion.
We are incredibly grateful for the leadership—both formal and informal—that our third-year students have provided throughout their time with us. We wish them every success as they take the next steps in their journey beyond Queen’s.

Three-peat! For the third year in a row, our Men’s Football team went head-to-head against Trinity in the Grand Final - and for the third time in three years, our men were triumphant with a final score of 82-55! Congratulations on an amazing achievement!
The footy capped off a jam-packed weekend - from championship winning footy and basketball games, a stellar MADS production of The Matchmaker, and a beautiful performance by the Seraphim Trio (featuring Wyvern Helen Ayres) - it was a perfect showcase of the diversity and talent that we have in our community!

Congratulations to our Women's Basketball team who defeated International House in a thrilling grand final on Friday evening! In a nail-biting contest where the margin stayed within just a few points throughout the match, it was only in the final moments that Queen's edged ahead winning the championship for the second year in a row with the final score of 27-25.

We were delighted to welcome Professor Marcia Langton AO, Dr Ross L Jones, and Dr James Waghorne as guest speakers at our 2024 Sugden Institute Indigenous Oration.
As the three editors of ‘'Dhoombak Goobgoowana, A History of Indigenous Australia and the University of Melbourne', they spoke about the first of their two volumes, titled ‘Truth’.
The book is divided into four parts- place, human remains, settler/colonial knowledge, and Indigenous knowledge. It is a truth telling book of extraordinary power that the editors hope will inspire universities around the world to document the history of their institution’s relationship with their First Nations people, while enabling descendants of the victims and the perpetrators of harm at The University of Melbourne to take some heart from the truth finally being told.
