Our Sun Room has been buzzing with excitement as they begin to explore the wonderful world of Australian animals in Term 2! 🐨🦘
A perfect way to jump into this topic was a visit from Animals of Oz, where the children were fascinated to meet some incredible Aussie creatures up close!
Sun Room has introduced a new group of take-home friends, Melly, Bounce, Puggles, and Russell. These cuddly companions get to go home with our Sun Room children, joining them on their adventures before returning to share their experiences with the class. We love creating meaningful learning experiences that spark wonder and imagination every day.

Sun Rooms’ first park visit of the year today 🌞 Perfect timing before Melbourne flipped the weather. Lucky them, collecting their treasures in the sunshine to be later used for nature inquiry activities.

Our 3-Year-Old Kinder Room has been focused on boundaries and keeping themselves safe in Forest Room.
'The Boundary Song'. teaches us all about how everyone has different boundaries and what they like and don't like.
After they had listened to the Boundary song, it was time for the children to brainstorm and voice their ideas, continuing to incorporate more children's voice within their room, the children themselves created a Forest Room Agreement of rules. This list will be displayed within the Forest Room environments alongside the visuals they created as a group to allow children to come back and remind themselves and others.
Involving children in creating rules is crucial because it transforms rules from forced restrictions into shared understandings. When children participate in this process, they develop a sense of ownership, responsibility, and empathy. Which leads to a more positive, safe environment as children take charge and are more willing to implement based off their ideas and voice.
Thanks Forest Room.

Connecting to Country in Sun Room.
The toddlers have been very engaged in caring for the sun room garden recently, planting seeds, watering plants and connecting with their outdoor environment.
They extended on this by collecting fallen leaves to paint the colours of the Aboriginal flag, using this as an opportunity to learn their meanings. By using natural materials from the environment, the children were reminded that art, culture and land are interconnected.
