Two years of hand tremors

Then, within 10 minutes of ZSA treatment, something changed ๐Ÿ‘€

A 28 year old patient presented with hand tremors that had persisted for two years, with the right hand noticeably worse

Stress, caffeine and lack of sleep aggravated the shaking

He also had a history of hypertension, with his blood pressure previously reaching 180/120, requiring daily medication

So how was this approached through Zhuโ€™s Scalp Acupuncture?

From a TCM perspective, three patterns stood out:

โšก Liver Yang rising
โšก Liver Fire
โšก Liver Wind

But there was another important clinical clue

Around DU14, the neck felt hot, while the area below felt cold, suggesting congestion through the cervical region and impaired circulation

This helped guide the ZSA treatment strategy ๐Ÿ‘‡

โœจ Upper Jiao to calm the Shen, regulate the vessels and address Fire

โœจ Lower Jiao to address Liver Wind and Liver Yang

โœจ Cervical zone to target the stiffness, heat and vascular congestion through the neck

Chou Qi reduction was then used to clear excess, alongside focused breathing as Dao Yin to help open the chest and guide the treatment

After approximately 10 minutes, the change was clearly visible

The tremor had dramatically reduced, with almost no shaking remaining

For Acupuncturists, this case is a powerful reminder that ZSA is more than selecting a zone based on a symptom

The pattern, the physical findings, the manipulation technique and the Dao Yin all inform the treatment

And when those pieces come together, even a long standing presentation can sometimes respond remarkably quickly ๐Ÿง

Day 1 in Melbourne โ€” an epic start

Dr Clayton Shiuโ€™s first time teaching Nanopuncture in Australia, and the room was full โ€” acupuncturists from all over the country, and even the US

We went deep on stroke โ€” the Western medicine pathophysiology, whatโ€™s happening with blood flow in the brain, and side by side, the Chinese medicine picture of Qi and Blood

Many acupuncturists here have family whoโ€™ve had a stroke, or patients โ€” and they came to upskill and help their community
