An update from The Giggle Garden 🌻 🧠 ✨

This is why it matters.
Not the sales. Not the stockists. This.

A book in a room where a child is about to have their brain assessed, measured and discussed and before any of that starts, they pick up a story that says “your brain is a wonderful place” 🥹🥹

The books we put in waiting rooms, classrooms and therapy spaces send a message before any adult opens their mouth.

Every child deserves to find themselves in a book. Especially in the rooms where they’re learning about who they are 🧠🌻🦋✨

I am at this morning and grateful to be able to show you what’s in their FREE sensory support kit called The Inclusion Project in collaboration with 👏🏼 👏🏼

Inside a drawstring bag, you will find children’s headphones and a selection of fidgets to support your family’s visit to the convention and exhibition centre.

📍available at the customer service desks throughout the convention centre.

If you’re a parent, therapist or educator, don’t forget your reusable bags at this week! 🛒

My local Aldi was stocked to the brim with learning resources from and The Knowledge Factory which are much loved by OT’s and speechies in our community 🧸🧩🧠📚

Let us know if you picked anything up 👇🏼🫶🏼

This morning’s Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

I spoke to journalists last night and during the week leading up to the federal budget, discussing what the implications of last nights announcements mean for families like yours and mine.

We’ve already shared the full breakdown on our blog and a carousel walking through the key numbers. This is the conversation reaching beyond our community and into mainstream media, which is where it needs to be.

Thank you to Jackson Graham for making space for parent voices in this story.

If you missed our budget breakdown, it’s on our page, in our stories and on our blog. Link in bio 🔗🌻🌈

The 2026 Budget was handed down tonight. There are wins in the health space that matter for our families. Cheaper scripts, more bulk billing, more urgent care clinics. Those are real and they help.

Then there’s the NDIS…

I need to say this plainly. Autism and ADHD are permanent disabilities. Neurodivergent children become neurodivergent adults. Their support needs change shape over a lifetime but they do not disappear.

When the government describes these children as having “less significant support needs” and redirects them away from the scheme that was built for permanent disability, families deserve a clear answer to a simple question: if not the NDIS, then what? Not in 2028. Now.

Thriving Kids is funded at less than half of what these children currently receive through the NDIS. The program design isn’t finalised. The legislation is moving forward anyway.

Stay informed. Stay loud. Your voice matters.

This morning, I took our little dinosaur lover to Dinos At The Zoo, currently at 🦕 🦖

There’s over 30 dinosaur animatronics that roar, blink, and move plus a fossil dig zone, photo ops and Dino-themed snacks across select zoo locations.

🌻 Neurodivergent families take note: they run a daily “Dino doze” quiet hour free of Dino movement and sound for those that prefer a calmer environment to explore the space.

Bravo, for building this consideration into the schedule so families don’t have to choose between missing out or pushing through.

Dinos At The Zoo is running across Melbourne, Werribee Open Range Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary until July 12.
