Hubbub excursions are planned to extend children’s interests, connect learning with the wider community and create new experiences.
Before an excursion, our educators consider what children are currently interested in and what opportunities the experience could offer.
During the excursion, educators observe what captures the children’s attention, the questions they ask and the things they discover.
And when we return the learning continues. Children might revisit the experience through art, stories or imaginative play.

Working from home sounded like a great idea.

Learning often takes us beyond Hubbub and into our local community 👣
Our Bunjil children recently walked to Preston Library for a bilingual Mandarin-English Story Time and a special Dragon Boat Festival craft activity.
The children listened to stories in two languages before getting creative and building their own dragon boats from cardboard boxes.
Excursions like these give children the chance to experience new environments, explore different cultures and languages and build connections with the community around them.
They also give us plenty to talk about, investigate and build on when we return to Hubbub.

What does a typical day at Hubbub look like?
That’s a surprisingly difficult question to answer.
One minute, we’re exploring textures through sensory play.
Next, someone is solving an engineering challenge involving pool noodles and shaving foam.
Later, we might be talking about feelings, building something new, digging outside or disappearing into a world of imaginative play.
Children learn in different ways, at different times and through different experiences.
That’s why there’s plenty of playing, exploring, talking, moving, questioning, laughing and learning 💛
